Reputation is a Rune-Server system designed for users to give or deduct "reputation points" to certain users. The reputation system is mainly used for things such as giving reputation points to users who post useful, helpful, or funny posts - however, giving positive or negative feedback does not require a legitimate reason to do so.

    Reputation Points

Reputation points or rep points are points given to your account when a user reps you. Based on the reputation power of the user who repped you, you will gain a certain amount of points, ranging from 0-5000.

You can find out how many reputation points you have in your User Control Panel, or in your own profile under the "Reputation" tab. In both locations, you will see a list of reputation previously given to you and by whom. The reputation list on your profile will show the latest 10, whereas the reputation list in your User Control Panel will show the latest 50.

Reputation points also build up reputation stars/bars which you find under members' names/usertitles in their postbits, or on their profile pages. Reputation stars increase as follows: At 5 bronze stars you are given a silver star, at 5 silver stars you are given a gold star. A single bronze star is worth 15,000 reputation points.

    Reputation Power

Reputation power or rep power is a number that directly coincides with the amount of reputation points you have. Your reputation power will indicate how many reputation points you will give. The number of points you give is determined by a mathematical formula of Points/200 = Power for positive reputation, and Points/400 = Power for negative reputation.

For example, if a user has 50,000 reputation points, you divide that number by 200 to find out how much reputation power he has. 50,000/200 is 250, so that user has 250 reputation power. That same will user will only take away 125 reputation points if he/she was to deduct your reputation. Reputation deductions are half of what positive reputations are. So for example, I have 1,000,000+ reputation points, therefore I have 5000 reputation power. I am able to give other users 5000 reputation points, and take away 2500.

    Negative Reputation/Reputation Deductions

Negative reputation/reputation deductions is when a user chooses to provide negative reputation instead of positive reputation for a variety of reasons including (but not limited to) useless posting, flame, spam, and advertising. Negative reputation can be given out for any reason whatsoever. It is not against the rules to give out negative reputation for no reason.

Negative reputation can only be given out by members of certain usergroups. These usergroups include: Extreme Donator, Veteran, Designer, Programmer, Respected Member, Moderators, and Administrators. You can view the requirements for these usergroups here.

    Reputation Caps

Albeit the reputation system is very open and relaxed, it does come with restrictions. While users are able to gain any amount of reputation points, reputation power is restricted to 5,000 (1,000,000 reputation points). Users are permitted to provide either positive or negative reputation 3 times within a 24 hour period. Users are required to spread reputation to at least 10 other people before giving/taking away reputation from the same user.

    FAQ

Q: A user deducted my reputation for seemingly no reason, can I report this user?
A: Absolutely not. Deducting reputation does not require a reason, just as giving reputation does not.

Q: I was flamed/harassed in a reputation comment, what can I do about this?
A: If the reputation comment contains anything that violates the Official Forum Rules, you may report the user here.

    Q: What does neg/negging/negged mean?
A: "Negging" is a slang term for deducting a user's reputation. For example, I'm going to neg that user, he negged me, there's a lot of people negging him.

Q: I was negged by a bunch of people in a very short period time, why is this?
A: There are a variety of reasons for this. One could be that you posted something that upset the majority of users, and another could be you are being "neg attacked". A neg attack is when a person or group encourages, entices, or incentivizes people into providing negative reputation to a user. This is a reportable offense - if you feel and have evidence that users are neg attacking you, you may post a report here.

    Warnings

    • Asking for positive or negative reputation is not permitted.
    • "Rep4rep" is not permitted. This means repping people asking for reputation in return, or asking for rep with the incentive that you will rep back.
    • Forum rules such as flame/harassment apply to reputation comments
