Designer Rank to include Modelers

Wow I didn’t know there were so many people voting ‘yes’. I have nothing against modellers, I just don’t think they fit in the ‘designer rank’

Since it's clear there's majority support, instead of offering dissenting points here are some "suggestions-to-the-suggestion":

1. I don't think the ranks should be combined as there may be too much distinction between someone that designs graphics for clients and websites and someone that creates functional models in a video game. It's ambiguous how you even become a designer *now*.

2. Regardless of how the ranks change, combine or don't, the sections need reworking. Perhaps change the Graphics Section to "RSPS Design" to centralize activity to an area on the forums, it could encapsulate things like models as well as client designs etc. Might even be better to make a sub-forum under RSPS but the gfx section has to be looked at. The biggest issue with this rank suggestion is that there is just not enough activity to warrant it, so if you can concentrate the activity to fewer areas it at least helps.

3. Go through the designer list with a fine tooth comb, remove 2 layer sig creators and the like. Make a requirement for the designer rank be so that you have to actually be doing RSPS-related shit

Genuinely, I don't think "Designer" as it has been from like 2011-2021 serves any purpose on Rune-Server. Why recognize people that are simply skilled with photoshop with no context? The rank itself needs a major overhaul if these kinds of ideas are going forward.

Very good suggestions. I agree the section getting an entire facelift would be beneficial. I'll sort out some ideas for that, as well. Thanks a lot for that.

Be they their own rank or not, top modellers ought to receive recognition for their outstanding work. If they aren't easy to find via a forum search, then the site's maintainers should look into changing that. I sometimes click on ranked users to see what they've contributed, and there very well may be others who do the same. If modellers get ranked, then it'll at least be easier to find their work that way.

I've been trying hard to get better with my work to earn this rank. Hopefully one day it happens, not in any rush but by the support of Chance and a few others I think one day I'll get that opportunity. Good thread Chance, I hope it helps the community.

I actually tried messing with the RSPSi editor. I'm having fucking troubles coordinating the floor shapes to create a pathway. I can agree, that is art what you guys do as I cannot do it. LOL!

This. If its easier to recognize true Modelers & Map Designers then newer or less knowledgeable people in the scene are *less likely* to get scammed or overpay for inferior work.
