    Hello,

I was thinking about this idea that is both beneficial for R-S and the users.
    The idea goes as following:

Under “rep power” there will be an empty spot available for a badge. You can purchase this badge space for X amount of money (Not giving any price recommendations in public; although I’ve a price plan in mind).
This badge could represent your server and is clickable.
Location of the badge will be:

And you could do cool things with it aswell. For example you can introduce a new “rep point-kinda-thing” called “Credit” where users are able to give each other and these credits are used to purchase Server badges (or other stuff that could be added in the future). The owner of the server first has to buy “Badge Permission” for that particular server in order for other users to purchase that badge for themselves.
The owner of the badge could have a red or green or w/e border to show that he owns the badge.

Users can give credit to each other based on how friendly they are, contributions, frequent posting etc.

Each day that an user logs onto forums gets like 1 credit.

This idea overall brings in more financial support to R-S, helps server owners, brings in more fun to forum users because they all want the high number stuff

You could expand this idea even further and add so many other things!

Hows this any different to putting a picture in your signature as an affiliate?

Your signature is a place you can put anything in: spam, serious stuff, advertisements etc
But this badge idea brings a whole new system with himself, this badge will only hold a server emblem and not spam or some troll image.
Plus, with the whole credit idea it just adds some sort of “forum-game” that will make forums more enjoyable.

Plus, it’s beneficial for R-S financials.

Not the worst idea, I guess? Maybe make the "badge spot" available with affiliate status rather than adding a whole separate system for this though as the 2 ideas seem extremely related.
I very much disagree with the Credit part as it is stated. Quite ambiguous. For instance, once you have 1 badge in the wild, couldnt anyone just leech credit off the 1 badge to get their own server's badge?
And with the "extras", I'm not sure what extras there could even be for a forum setting. Maybe some affiliate set-able callbacks related to their server that they can use for their own servers ingame stuff? Though with this I think only the affiliates themselves should be able to give this "credit" to prevent abuse of the system (multiple people just crediting eachother to gain ingame advantages).

It’s not abusable or leech-able. As previously stated, the owner of the server who buys the badge gets a green or w/e color border around the badge which means He’s the one who owns the badge and is responsible, everyone else, the normal users, who purchases the badge with the so-called credits just gets the badge without any border color.
This concept is very similar to “I support X server”-banners, although I find this more official and an extra way to support your favourite server and just basically adds another fun thing!

Adding this feature to the existing affiliate ranks or make it something seperate is really all up to Rune-Server himself.

There are easy solutions to the fact of people crediting each other to abuse the credit system, you can easily solve that with 24h restrictions or not crediting the same user in less than 48h, should atleast have more than 24h online time on R-S, I’m just summing up examples.
With extras you can for example buy the ability of GIF profile pics (just a pure example), you could expand this so the point that it creates a whole economical strategy for Rune-Server.

Postbit is cluttered enough. We already have enough advert placements for server owners to buy, this is a forum and not adsense. Stick "I support PelvisScape" in your signature like everyone else, least I can toggle them off.

While its important to fund the community and help server growth, I personally think this is on the border of whoring out the community. I'd happily turn off Adblock if the average website cared for their guest's vision, but unfortunately that's not the case. Design wise it will be too aggressive on people's eyesight. Take RuneLocus' front page as an example, and you are immediately welcomed with a clutter of advertisements left and right. You can barely focus on anything.

As others have said, servers can be additionally advertised through signatures. Advertising via signatures also brings activity on the forums, as posting becomes necessary. IMO activity on the community is more important than income.

Just to clarify, this suggestion was meant to help Rune-Server’s activity, this was not for personal use to help my own server. There are better ways to advertise in that case.
I don’t believe a single image/emblem + “credit: xx” will disrupt the postbit, But whatever.

    > “This is a forum and not adsense”
    Let’s see.

    Spoiler for Numbers:

ADVERTISING: 441k posts and 17,5k threads

Projects: 274,8k posts and 7,9k threads

Black Market: 344K posts and 41,3k threads

    TOTAL: 1059,8k posts / 66,7k threads

    GENERAL DISCUSSION: 269k posts
    About 26k threads

Official Runescape: 87,2k posts 6.2k threads

Gaming: 23,8k posts and 2,7k threads

Graphics: 131,5k posts and 16,4k threads

Spam: 193,7 posts and 7,1k threads

Programming: 92,9k posts and 10,8k threads

Computing: 22,1k posts and 2.2k threads

    TOTAL: 820,2k posts / 76,3k threads

Keep in mind, the advertising is only sub-forums advertise and projects (not even parent-forums)
While the other non-advertising forums are all parent forums.
So looking at the numbers, there’s a serious gap between advertising posts and others. Well ofc not all posts are “about” advertising, there are replies lile “Goodluck” etc but then comparing the amount of threads, advertising only comes 10k threads short than [BALL[/B] the other categories.

This might be a Forum to talk abour rsps, rs, gaming etc but you have to review where your audience go to.
So although this is not adsense, demand could be high and your statement would be not strong enough.
Also, Signature = your personal signature (could be anything: fan art, server banner, cool quote, memes etc) whereas a badge will only serve as a server emblem.

Anyways, I just liked to make my point clear. It’s still up to the staff team to make any decisions. Thanks for your reply though.

Income for Rune-Server was just one of the factors of this idea, not the main plan. Focus was more on activity.
