Might as well remove the rsps section whilst we’re at it
You're trying to be funny making a snarky comment but you need to accept the reality that using the shoutbox for the sole purpose of self-promoting your shit all day long should be a bannable offense. It's fuckin annoying and disruptive to see some dork run around the shoutbox every 30, 40 minutes or so ranting and raving about his shitty project thread. It's stupid and annoying and it's abusing a Rune-Server system(s) by using the god forsaken shoutbox as a self-promotion hub.
Use your heads man like
If affiliated can do it once an hour, (ad thread) should be the same for non affiliates
So if I call you a fuckhead in the shoutbox every 30-40 minutes is that suddenly okay because you don't have to read it? How about I link Pornhub in the shoutbox every 30-40 minutes? You don't have to read it or click on it therefore I am not doing anything wrong
This is about the principle of the matter; blatant self-promotion. Think dude.
your using examples that are specifically offensive tho, a project thread isnt nfsw, it doesnt offend anyone and theres no reason why you cant just ignore it.
its blatent self promotion sure, nobody gives a fuck when someone posts about anything other than an rsps that theyre working on tho
im all for adding a rule limiting how often users are allowed to link their project thread or whatever but if the issue is that theyre using it to gain attention towards an advertisment then maybe the problem is in the project thread not the act of posting in the shoutbox
jfc what kind of rsps forum is this when you cant talk about your rsps your working on, apply that logic to any other forum based around any form of creating anything, imagine a gfx forum where u cant post links to your designs you made, how ludicrous does that sound

Dude, the entire premise of this thread is arguing that blatant self-promotion SHOULD BE "specifically offensive".
Actually yes they do.its blatent self promotion sure, nobody gives a fuck when someone posts about anything other than an rsps that theyre working on tho
The issue is when people like Tyluur bend the rules into their favour. Sure, his project thread doesn't have any direct links to communities/forums/clients/etc., but he is constantly linking and promoting a "project thread" that has "Beta TBA" in the title. In your opinion, what do you think the objective is when somebody consistently links a thread with "Beta TBA" in the title? The objective is to promote an upcoming beta, which will be a playable game, which would be advertising. Alongside his favourite self-promoting catchphrases he shits out in the shoutbox day in day out, he's doing nothing but promoting the fact that his server will soon be playable.but if the issue is that theyre using it to gain attention towards an advertisment then maybe the problem is in the project thread not the act of posting in the shoutbox
That is a totally out of context example and has almost nothing to do with what we're talking about but I'll bite anyway. Linking an image of something you created is totally different than if I linked my own personal art showcase website littered with tons of Share buttons for you to share to all of your friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and a "shop coming soon !" stamped onto the front page of the website. What in the fuck do you think my goal is if I'm linking that kind of art website to you? What in the fuck do you think Tyluur's goal is linking his "Beta TBA" project thread with all the information about his upcoming beta?apply that logic to any other forum based around any form of creating anything, imagine a gfx forum where u cant post links to your designs you made
You have to use discretion and common sense. We're arguing that blatant self-promotion of any kind should be a bannable offense under moderator's discretion. Nobody is arguing for set in stone rules, nobody is saying "blanket ban on any linking of project threads !!" either.
And just to comment on this:
We already agree:im all for adding a rule limiting how often users are allowed to link their project thread or whatever
So I really have no idea what you're trying to argue with me about. Evidently we both agree that a compromise for Tyluur's horseshit must be made.
