Hey,
I would like to propose a rule or guideline for the Server/Client sub-section Show-off that prohibits the show-off of multi features, effectively creating an advertisement thread. Although there are only a handful of recent threads that make up this demographic, it should still be a guideline we follow.
If you support this, feel free to follow the guidelines for supporting it.
I disagree, if an individual wants to post multiple "new features" / "advancements" in relation to their server, then they should be allowed to do so in the "show-off".
It's not creating an advertisement thread unless there are links to other communities, client download links, forums, etc. The entire premise of a "show-off" section is to show off what you've created, whether it's 1 thing or 10 things.effectively creating an advertisement thread.
I'm not really sure what makes you think it "effectively creates an advertisement thread", because it doesn't unless it actually violates the advertisement forum/sub-section rules.
That is a completely valid point, however there should be a fine line drawn between multiple features and an advertisement.
An example of a recent thread that exists to advertise a game was potentially breaking a rule from the advertisement sub forum rules and guidelines;
Although it wasn't in the advertisement section, it might as well have been.Multiple threads on the same Rs2-Server
I agree completely, if you're going to post about multiple updates on your RSPS, might as-well make a Project Thread?
If you're going to show off a particular unique feature you've created, I don't see why your server has to have anything to do with it
For example, if you were to show-off an interface or something, the interface is what you're showing off, not the server you've created the interface for,
and if you're showing off the server you've created the interface for, you're pretty much advertising your server, are you not?
"This server 'blah' has this unique interface!" <-- Advertising.
"I made this unique interface for my server!" <-- Don't even need to specify the server name or anything, you're showing off your interface, not your server.
The thread you posted, about Dawntained, without a doubt should be considered advertising.
The thread you're talking about that was made by monk fair play that shouldn't have been posted there. However I think that showing off features of a server no matter how many there are should still be allowed the show off section is there to show off featur s and unique content w server may have, as like g as there are no direct links or any referrals to websites then I don't see the issue.
I do get the point of the Idea Jason, but I dont think thats an solution to the actual problem you had.. Then it might be better as Project said that you shall only be allowed to post if its your work, server or client. But if it still happens you should be able to report it with proof that its your work and not theirs to get it removed.
That shouldnt be allowed, OK same if i now go and make elkoy show-off lol..
That solution doesn't resolve this issue unfortunately. The operator of a project may own the work and still show off multiple features that in turn may act as more of a advertisement than a show off.
By that logic, I can take any advertisement thread and strip it of it's redirects and create a new thread in the show-off section with that content. That thread by those standards would be permitted.
The issue at the core isn't people displaying others work, it's showing off multiple features that in turn act as a advertisement. In the example I used, even if the person was showing off their work, it's still a blatant advertisement.
OT: The proposed suggestion isn't to limit projects in how they can go about showing off features, it's purpose is to create a fine line between show-off and advertisement.
