I understand your concern, if you were banned from a report it's usually conveyed automatically to your appeal. If you feel you were banned in error you can always create a report staff thread and if there was a report we do make an exception and will response.
I also am contemplating on moderators posting on your profile if you were banned/silence and the reason why. It was an idea discussed before just never pushed through.
@Sean - I don't code PHP, I don't believe Kevy has time so if someone is willing to create an addon-script for Inferno shoutbox I'm sure it would then be added after reviewed/tested of course.
