You should allow the posting of links to other sites because sometimes I (and others) need to point users to a different site which is completely unrelated to this site and is in no way advertising posting the link.

Advertising in my opinion is when someone posts a link over and over saying something like "JOIN THIS SITE", whereas posting a link that will be helpful to others (perhaps a link to a tutorial or something) isn't.

I don't think I've worded this too well but you should understand what I mean, what's the harm in linking others to useful resources?

When I first created/inforced the no advertising rule it wasn't supposed to be what it is now.
The aim of it was to stop:
    JOIN 508HEAVAN!!!!!!!wwwwwww.websiteissokul.com/foram1111111

    But not to stop:
Ah, [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    or
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

In short, the rule should be revised.

I agree that advertising should be allowed to helpful sites. But not competing forum sites. Basically what Vegeta said.

The rule allows helpful articles but not websites with a community aspect relating to RSPS. I believe its fair

New MSN PM me for it.
