How about removing the rep/neg mechanic entirely? It serves absolutely no use, it's been abused for many years now in the spam section. I'd say a much better metric would be to just have the current rep stars be represented through thanks-received, as that is something far less abused. If someone were to abuse that(like @[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] did a couple years ago), everyone would be able to see it and it could be sorted right away. I'd also make certain channels thank-free, so users simply can't be thanked in them, such as spam.
