Whats messed up about it

Users are asked to post and reply there input into what is coming up and whether it could be one option or another, here's an example.

As some of you know, a while back I decided to increase the values of reputation to prologue what will soon happen unless reset. Sadly, when the reputation system started it was good but long-term repercussions were never taken into account. I am talking about inflation, where it is to the point new users will never reach values anywhere near the current.

Reputation never meant much, but it had some take. As of now, there are users with 1,000,000+ reputation(Myself included). With this inflation, a select set of users control the whole system, forcing it to be pointless and confusing new users when they make a mistake and they get de-rep'd for more points than they will ever imagine to recover.

This makes the whole system unfriendly and unfun. Now, if we do want to fix this it would need a full reset and it's that simple. I do understand some people feel community voting polls never get "done" but these are a tool to help us make determinations be it in favor or not. Before it is decided to discuss this further between the Administrators I wish to see how many users are in favor of Resetting reputation. But it doesn't stop there.

When the reputation is reset, the value will be set to 1. This means, no matter how many points you have you will always give 1 reputation. The value for the images reputation provided will be scaled down aswell. Sure people will lose reputation, but I personally feel mistakes in the passed can be corrected before the impact the future to an unfixable level and to the point of the whole system being disabled. Reputation isn't the most exquisite system, but it holds value in it's own and we can restore that value that it had. Therefor, I will be asking for your opinions and votes on if you feel this should happen.

Update: Disabling reputation is a valid option.

I do understand the poll was in large favor of a reset/disable. But it's not always the number we look at, many people put their opinion that reached out. The reset heavily favored users with low reputation, but we are also resetting a sense of history. The reason reputation is not being reset is because of the poll, because of the people who left their opinions and gave their ideas. I am not a big fan of reputation myself, I am also one of the few who don't care. But if it makes 30% of our users happy and it's not harming 70% you know what, I will take those odds.

This is the point, they take our vote but change it around 70% of whats actually going to happen, if this is the case whats the point of making polls like this in the future to get our input which is the most important.

We do value opinions, and that is what those threads ask. It doesn't say "If the majority vote this way, it will happen" it is a tool to help make an outcome. The reputation thread for example was very different and I'll explain why.

70% the majority who voted to disable/remove it had little to no reputation and benefited greatly, while the 30% felt they worked hard for it and did not want to lose it. So here is the dilemma, do we upset 30% for something that does not effect 70%? Of course not. A lot of people left their opinions and didn't just vote, I'm not just going to look at a number without reviewing the opinions and you know what? People had very strong points.

So if one is going to base something just off of a number alone, then that is extremely ignorant.

Basically the 70% who voted for it to be reset were new fags who couldn't get people to rep them when they said "Rep 4 rep plox "

Look at spam section removal; there was a 40:60 (keep:remove) vote.

60% of the site would be indifferent after, 40% would be pissed. Simple logic says keep it.
