Who said that this was supposed to be some big solution? You're putting words in peoples mouths here. The Discord does not do the exact same thing as the forums and is not a replacement for the forums, its a shoutbox where we don't have to be limited by a lack of features or repressive chat rules that only serve to benefit a very small percentage of the users.

Its much nicer for users to be greeted to this:

Rather than this:

Got absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand though has it? We have an Admin at the helm now that has been an active user on this site for the entire duration I've been here. You might find it hard to believe, but Kevy isn't that illusive these days either.

"93 online" is not representative of "actively using R-S Discord". That's like having the active users list on Rune-Server count anybody who just has their browser open and not viewing the site specifically. You're considered an online user on Discord if you simply have the application open, not necessarily active on X or Y server.

In fact, the "93 online" statistic is more comparable to the "Active Users" statistic on R-S which is in the many thousands.

lmao what a conclusion you're jumping to. im not enabling custom emojis cos there's no way to prevent people uploading inappropriate images. im not bothered how "half the community" have asked for it, this site isn't ran by mob rule.

I wasn't asking you to give people the permission to upload images. I was asking to give people the permission to use emojis from other discords. Only nitro users would be able to use emojis from the other discords they're a part of - and even if they do use, these emojis don't become associated to your discord. Other people still won't be able to use these given emojis unless they're part of that same discord and have nitro as well. If used inappropriately, banning the person would remove all their replies (if selected so) along with all the emojis. Your only argument at this point is that some asshole might actually put a small 20x20 px dick emoji in the discord and suddenly it's the end of the world. One person doesn't speak for the entire community. There are a million other things any member of that discord could just as well do, which could have an even more drastical effect. Your solution to that is banning, so my question at this point is - why doesn't this same solution carry over to emojis?
It feels like a completely nazi community. The staff is running it how they want it, completely neglecting what the community wants - is this your forum or the community's? Menth is 24/7 busy deleting peoples shouts in the no-retards (old name) channel, even if they're actually relevant to the channel itself. The rest of the staff is working on figuring out new ways to restrict the members even further. I've been a part of many discords for a long time and I know for a fact it's rare to find someone who'd break the rules. 90% of the occasions during which I've seen rules being broken is when someone advertises something - whether it's a server or a community or whatever else. I have never seen a single person abuse the emojis, but hey, that's just me. What the fuck does one man's opinion matter when you have the whole staff team sitting behind you supporting every move you make, am I right?

PS: This is no rant, it's just a basic feel I've got after spending a while in Rune-Server. It applies to this site just as well, not just the discord.
Probably going to end up being negged to death by some nazi swastika "respected" members who haven't been relevant for a decade.

Haven't joined myself yet but I might do at some point, good idea not allowing custom emojis to be fair, it's a nightmare to keep an eye on who's posting what.

To be fair, a lot of the staff aren't omniscient Discord users who are aware of every feature in the book of Discord features known to mankind and a simple suggestion thread explaining the custom emoji shit would have been a much better option than freaking out about it.

It's not ran by a dictatorship either. If an idea * is presented by the community and receives a good amount of support, it should totally overrule the select few staff members who say "nah that's dumb" or just refuse to do it because they personally don't want it. You've been here long enough to know how ridiculously common this is (not saying you personally do it), and it'd be a shame if the Discord, assuming it picks up and maintains activity, followed the same footsteps.

I've requested this (along with a long list of other users) many times by now. I've explained at least three times why they should do it. I explained how the nitro thing works as I do have it myself. They're so hard-headed it's ridiculous, even if the community thinks otherwise, they still stick to whatever they believe in - despite this being a community forum.

I'm not just bullshitting here and it's not just about the emojis, I expressed how I feel about the staff in general around here, couldn't really care much about the emojis themselves but I do care for the fact that they neglect what people want and think. Truth be told these forums should've changed the staff a long time ago. Someone who doesn't give a shit about what the community is actually made for shouldn't have such a high position, there are loads of members in this community who've proven to be much better choices. The current staff hasn't been relevant to RSPS in a long time (with the exception of.. Stuart; I think he's the only staff member in here who actually does anything related to RSPS at all). Considering the fact that the staff doesn't really do shit related to RSPS, they should at least be able to actively filter through peoples requests... which I think we all know isn't true. Most request threads take over a month to get processed, if you bump that shit your request is completely neglected at all. There are so many reasons why many of the staff members shouldn't be where they are right now. It's a complete tyranny tbh. The worst fact is that the community isn't being refreshened at all. Even the most "recent" staff promotions were just recycled people from the past, no new blood has entered the staff team in a very long time. No one's being awarded any ranks, multiple amazing programmers in this community who're actually active completely neglected (some examples include Cjay0091, Jason - I've never spoken to Jason myself but I've seen his code and he's worthy of the rank IMO).

Not like any of this matters though. It's impossible to dethrone anyone if the entire leadership are just ducks in a row with heads up in eachothers asses. Even if they say stupid shit people will back them up due to the fact they hold such a high position, being completely incapable of having their own opinions.
