Overview
Epoch is based off of CreativeScape by R0cky 0wnz, which is a derivative of Project No-Doze by killamess, which is a derivative of Shard by Graham(?). It is a 317 loading 474.
Epoch was originally supposed to be a zombie survival server. I have yet to add zombies and I'm slowly beginning to believe the server may not need them, so this may or may not change in the future.
In this server you can try to survive against nature with a complex survival system including a virtual stomach, energy and water levels, blood and body temperature. You can raid other player's homes or build your own straight onto the map with a fully functional base building system, or train your combat and skills as usual, in this apocalyptic, player-driven world.
Current Survival Aspects
Survival in Epoch relies on 4 main aspects. Energy, Water, Blood and Body Temperature.
Energy:
- No longer have "run energy". Instead it is your body's overall energy.
- Eating food adds content to your stomach.
- Each type of food has different energy values and mass (percentage to add to the stomach).
- After a short period of time, the food you ate recently is converted to usable energy.
- Energy is used for running or any manual labour (woodcutting, mining, base building etc.).
- Players consequently build up exertion. The longer you run or do manual labour, the faster your energy drains (this is exponential in both increasing and decreasing).
- Setting your walk speed to "Walk" will naturally decrease your exertion over time.
- Stomach contents slowly decrease over time.
- If your stomach is at 0% it will burn 1-10% of your body's energy instead (energy to keep you alive even if you are idle).
Water:
- You can find empty bottles around the world or craft your own with a glassblower.
- Environment effects your hydration levels. Being near lava raises your body's temperature and makes you sweat, losing water faster.
- Exertion from running or manual labour makes you sweat and lose water at a faster rate.
- If your water level reaches 0% you will begin to lose blood.
- Water is added to the stomach first, and then after a short while will replenish your water level.
- Consuming water does not add any energy to your body.
- When water hydrates you, it also decreases your exertion. This can be confirmed by a "You feel refreshed." message.
Blood:
- When a player reaches 0 HP they enter a wounded state. A stage of dying where you cannot be attacked or attack, or do anything else except heal your bleeding.
- You bleed until you reach 0% blood, in which case you then die.
- If you have a bandage you can use it to stop the bleeding and continue what you was doing (50% HP is granted).
Body Temperature:
Not yet implemented.
Base Building:
- Players must obtain a Footprint from looting crates (uncommon) or by "donating".
- Attempting to drop the footprint prompts you with a dialogue.
- Once you have read and confirmed, a flagpole is placed at your location representing your plot of land to build on.
- You are currently only allowed to build in a 10x10 radius around your flagpole.
- You cannot set your own flagpole if another player's flagpole is in the vicinity.
- Using a toolkit on the flagpole removes it.
- Once you have started building objects you must remove any objects you have built to move your flagpole again.
- You cannot remove another player's flagpole.
- You can only instantly remove objects you have built, granting some of the materials back.
- Pickaxes and explosive potions are a small example of what you will use to destroy another player's object (i.e. wall).
- Weak walls and strong walls are available.
- Chests to store your items in must be built in your house (acts as a bank).
- Players can build altars (prayer, runecrafting, ancients) to access these features.
- Players can build furniture and beds (respawn points).
- Players can build furnaces and anvils.
- Players can create an allotment.
- Base building is moderated (e.g. random walls that don't connect to a perimeter, or purposely blocking off main areas is prohibited).
- Much more, but still in development.
Bag:
- Acts as extra storage (but is not a bank).
Primitive Firemaking:
- Create a fire with your barehands (no axe or tinderbox needed).
- You can snap a branch from a tree, and also have a chance of receiving kindling from trees if you have no axe in your inventory.
- Primitive firemaking is an automated process but can fail at any stage based on your firemaking level (the stick may snap).
- Successfully lighting a fire grants you a small amount of firemaking and strength experience.
Other Media:
Will add more information soon.
Looks decent. Good luck!
This is interesting. Best of luck.
Fun idea , will follow to see how it turns out.
