I've been doing some game development for fun lately, got in touch with a nice 3d artist and decided to go with low poly art as the style.
Using Unreal Engine 4 (c++) as frontend, netty server as backend (java) via a simple binary protocol (uint16 size, uint16 opcode, int8 *data). Mostly doing this for fun but at the same time rather serious about it since i'm investing money into it.
Always wanted an mmorpg of my own instead of ripping content from rs. Maybe if i have time i'll update this thread to make it all pretty and nice but there's pictures for that for the time being.
Features that i did and weren't in the engine obviously otherwise i wouldn't mention it:
- TCP networking server
- Multiplayer spawning, despawning, movement
- All the assets you see aside from the character
- Game messages
- Display names
- Chatting
- Camera zooming
- Light flickering
AAAAAND MEDIA (no photoshopping done, this is in-engine):
I'm aware the postprocessing/lighting affects the name tag rendering, it'll be fixed soon
