    Hey,

I just had my appendix removed due to appendicitis. Has anyone had similar treatment, and if so, have you noticed any long term effects at all? During the recovery process, do you recall doing anything to speed up recovery?

    Id appreciate any response,

    Jason

I got mine removed a couple of years ago (the same year that Swine Flu was reported on humans, 09?)

Had a couple of weeks where it hurt a bit when moving around, and I was told to keep still-ish for that period of time (not going on long walks, get into fights, do extremesports and stuff like that)
I didn't do anything special to heal faster, it's a wound that has to be repaired by the body.

You'll be up and running in no-time. (only thing that bugged me for a while after, was the scars, as they felt weird)

Don't try to be too active and pull out your stitches by accident or injure yourself or anything like that, just try to take it easy, make sure you don't get dehydrated but also don't flood yourself with fluids. Avoid alcohol and smoking as well, etc. Listen to any other instructions your doctor left you and you'll be fine in no time.

    Feel better soon, man.

Not too sure about that, it's at 0 . It would have to go minus to even be remotely close to his IQ.

The first couple of weeks sound the worst. Yeah i'll keep extreme sports off the list . Yeah I never even thought to ask about the scarring, i'm sure the scarring beats a swollen appendix any day!

Yeah I was a bit active yesterday with chores and had to head back to the hospital, gotta be careful. Yeah the fluid aspects seems to be a pretty big part of it. I don't drink but I do smoke Cannabis and it definitely relieves some of the pain. No cigarettes though! Thanks for the great advice.
