Couldn't get any progress with them after a month of calls and spending hours on the phone. Sky did a similar thing so I'd avoid them.

I've used plusnet for the last 3 years. I pay about £30 a month for 80mb/s in a very rural area, including line rental. The customer support is brilliant, I barely have to wait 10 minutes to get a problem solved. They're incredibly cheap for their speeds and I've never had a single problem with the speed/network. If you need fibre setup, they'll send over a BT person within a few days to hook it all up and you're good to go. The router lacks a bit of advanced settings in their UI, though you can do a lot of it with telnet.

Edit: Even when I didn't have fibre available, I got the maximum for my area even cheaper (around £15 a month) which was a consistent 8mb/s.
Plusnet definately sounds like the best provider to go with.

I currently have fibre optic with BT, if I was to go with Plusnets plan would they still need to send over an engineer to set it all up at the nearest exchange point?

    Any idea?

I might actually go with that plan , thanks man.
If you talk to virgin properly, they'll give you a much better deal than any other provider.
I currently pay 13 a month for Unlim landline calls and 100mbps Internet
They'll also throw you £50 credit if you find yourself a referer.

If you have the BT fibre box that plugs into the DSL (I'm not sure of the name) the router will just plug right in via ethernet (which they provide with the box) no need for a worker to come out. Either way I think it was free for the worker to set it up too so there's that. As with most places, you can probably get a sweeter deal if you say you're thinking of leaving your current provider and they'll probably make it even smoother too.

This is pretty much true. Everyday I deal with people who tell me about how they're getting a better deal with a competitor brand and unless that deal is on their website I can't disprove it otherwise because a lot of offers get made over the phone as a way to get that person to switch brands but the only problem I would say with lying is although you can lie your ass off, whatever deal you get made on the phone doesn't always guarantee it will still be there when you phone back again if you decide you want to think about it because although I can't speak for other brands I know personally with Sky there's only so much discount or offers you can throw out each day.

Been with multiple networks, however Sky seems the most consistent in providing stable wifi. I bought fibre optic and get the maximum speed, with it rarely ever dropping. Although there are better offers at other companies, there customer service and consistency lacks, most notably plusnet and virgin
