So I understand how attack/bonuses of player 1 and defense/bonuses of player 2 can affect whether I hit a 0 or a hit. I also understand how prayer + strength lvl/bonuses can determine the max hit. What I want to know is what determines the hit once you know it's not a 0?
Is it purely random, e.g. Random.get(maxHit) or is there some sort of formula. I'd like an explanation so I can edit the combat formula on my server. Also if there's a good formula released please feel free to link me!
Info on range/mage would also be appreciated!

No, never has been. Your accuracy determines how frequently you hit on your target, but your max hit is completely random within your max hit range.
I could potentially go smack a guy in full bandos a 60, wearing ghostly, unlikely due to my poor accuracy against his defence, but very possible.
Based off of rs? I guess you'll never know unless they tell you. How I design combat is if it's a successful hit then I randomize a number between 1-MAX_HIT
