    Thanks but the way the particles are being drawn in that client is different than in this snippet.
    and I think it looks better this way than the method in that client.

    Well if you looked closer you'd see they are the same except filledCircle method is integrated as the draw method.

    I found that, but the problem is that when I try to use the filledCircle method, it doesn't draw anything.

    That doesn't mean that the draw method is the problem. Have you ran any tests to verify that atleast?

    I tried redoing this tutorial with this filledcircle method, but that didn't work.
    I got the particles working with the method of the other client.

    ^Like instead of having particles defined to a model, u could just have a basic particle effect and then just set the tiles u want it on.
