^I think 530 data would work well with that, since its the earliest hd version with most complete maps.
May as well just use a #530 client... lol

I think one of the biggest issues we face (or at least me personally) is choosing which features to prioritize. Some clients have fullscreen/resizable, some have better (HD) rendering engines.
The biggest issue is finding a level of customizability within a quality client. Runelimited was a great client, but it lacked fog and some other aesthetics. It also didn't have ondemand cache loading, which seems like a very nice feature IMO. I'm not sure of what else it was missing, but those are a few things I've never learned how to do myself.

From a different standpoint, I think that if we had a type of OpenRS for 317 clients we'd have a lot more tools available for modification. Map editing seems to be one of the biggest struggles right now. Not many people understand the structure of the cache very well.

I think people might think I'm lazy for not learning the cache structure and ondemand protocol and all of that, but I've never really had the resources to learn it (like a solid explanation of how it's used with programming examples). Maybe less material release and more theory?

Edit: Also agree that you swapping to a 530 or something would be even better. If I had a more renamed 530, the tools already exist, like OpenRS and a lot of other cache tools. That also eliminates the issue of HD, because god damn HD looks incredible compared to the 317 client
Actually a few people, myself included, are working on renaming a 530 to do just this!

Anyway, Josh, I think things such as properly ported content, or even fully functioning new engine clients that are customized for the user to work with like the 317s nowadays, would be a massive contribution. Like at the moment, I'm attempting to port the opengl rendering system of the 530 to 317 for shits n giggles haha.

a few things we are missing in the rsps scene are tools i guess :

    1) interface editor new + old type's to import to the 317/377 cache just like lins
    2) Sounds.dat unpacker repacker also useable with new types
    3) this might be to much to ask but a tutorial or a easy way to deob a rs client and make a server out of it (osrs for example).
    4) a better cache suite that packs unlimited amount of images and other data without making the cache corrupted

that's about it and welcome back galkon good luck with finding a new project.

    Maybe re-factor a 508/530 HD client.
The only reason i'm not moving onto hd clients is because of the client naming that hurts my eyes.

Hopefully you do something as big as this to change the Rsps scene
    Do your best Galkon!

    EDIT:
    Either a re-factored HD client or re-factored 317 with ground textures/anti anialising/shadows of scenery.
If you plan on releasing a much better re-factored 317, you should really also re-factor the local variables of methods so we find customizing even more easier which will advance the RSPS scene.

    I second this.
