Hey all,
This is part 2 in the "Image Enhancing Methods" TuT series.
This TuT will cover:
Borders.
This TuT will show you numerous ways of using tools to your advantage to create nice borders for your sigs/images!
I will be using this one image to show you the results on:
As with the Gloss TuT, I don't know the names, so I'll make them up again!
----- ~ -----
The 'Overlay' Border:
This is my favourite border, it's also very effective.
1. Select your whole area of your sig (or the part you want).
2. Make a new layer (still selected)...
3. Go "Edit > Stroke" and put "3px, INSIDE, BLACK colour".
4. Go "Edit > Stroke" again, put "2px, INSIDE, WHITE colour".
5. Stroke again, this time 1px and black again...
6. Change the borders blending mode to "Overlay".
7. DONE! End result:
Beveled Border:
This border is like a frame, it looks nice when used correctly.
1. This is very simple, get your image, select the layer of the main part (Whatever covers the area)
NOTE: If you have multiple "Full covering" layers, select the main one (the one in front...)
2. Go 'Layer > Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss...'
3. Use these settings:
OPTIONAL: You can play with them, and the "Size" of the bevel can be edited, depending on your image size...
4. DONE!
Grunge Border!
This border is by far the smexiest, however, it is kinda hard to pull off nicely...
1. Create a new layer over whever you want to add the border to...
2. Press "Q" to enter "Quick Mask Mode"...
3. Get the Rectangular Marquee tool out and make a selection inside the full image (not the whole image)
4. Fill it with black, you will notice it is red, that is GOOD!
5. Deselect (Ctrl + D) and go "Filter > Distort > Ocean Ripple..."
6. Use any settings you like but I recommend not going over about 5 for size and 7 for magnitude...
7. Duplicate this by hitting 'CTRL + F' 2 or 3 more times (up to you)
8. Press "Q" to exit Quick Mask Mode, you should now have a weird looking selection...
9A. You can A. Delete this part from all the layers:
9B. Or you can add a "Filter > Render > Clouds" to it and play with the Levels (Ctrl + L) and blending modes:

I'm sorry there's not a lot of images still, I haven't been able to make them all yet...
I will try to get updated ASAP, along with the Gloss TuT!
