not sure about the 1%.
But as for the process() :
There is really nothing wrong with using a process, the only thing you have to keep in mind is to keep it organized and not add statements that for example get executed every 600ms some examples of this :
getPA().sendFrame126("I like to fuck up the process", 3711); //this gets done every 600 ms while its not really needed.
