    Introduction

    Hello, I'm fairly new to RSPS development but have been playing them since early 2007. I'm looking to start a project with a select few like-minded individuals who seem to share the same goals and aspirations I do. My name is Marcus, I'm 22 years old and completely self-taught. My career objective is to eventually get into cyber security, so I'm currently enrolled in Network Security & Administration in uni in hope to eventually move on to something more in depth such as computer science, but having to do multiple branch courses considering I flunked school. My most recent job was a junior marketing manager for Qantas, I've learned a lot and worked with e-commerce for quite a few years now and believe that I can easily utilise the knowledge I've learned over the course of 3 years and apply it to RSPS.

    As for my knowledge regarding RSPS. I've recently just started toying and reading bits of code to try and more understand how things work, I'm not the most advanced but I am definitely a quick learner. I would definitely prefer to be the overall project manager for this project as well as to be able to dip into any server-side work where I see fit. Now, you might think this is probably not something you're interested in, however, I feel that my platitude of ideas and ability to design content from a player enthusiasts perspective with the right developers will lead afar.

    In saying that, I do not believe in the sole intention of distinguishing myself as an owner for this project, I believe it takes more than one individual to create something great. What I mean by that is if you were to join this team, we would be on the exact same level with the utmost transparency, whether it comes to being completely honest with each other in regards to lack of effort, falling outs, or even payments. I feel that the best way to keep a working relationship is to have everyone on the team at the same level, and over the years I've learned the only way to do that is to be completely transparent regarding everything.

    I don't think there is just one important thing you'd need in order to become successful in your business, but if I had to choose one, I would say it's to make sure everyone knows about your game, through either advertisement, toplists, involvement in RSPS communities or simply online presence in general. The biggest and most successful RSPS were often not that much better in regards to stability or features than most others - the main reason they were successful is because they knew how to advertise their product.

    For a long time, I have maintained the belief that making your game as good (and bug-free) as possible would automatically reward itself with many players, but over time I have realized that's simply not true. Having a great product is important for success, but it will only pay off if you manage to market it properly.

    It's definitely not the only thing of importance though. If you have great marketing and advertisement, your players won't stay if you can't give them what they want (lots of features, a low amount of bugs, balanced xp rates, balanced combat system and regular updates). It's also impossible to become successful on your own - without at least a partner you can work with (and whom you can trust), or a team of people who can assist you, most RSPS owners buckle under the pressure and workload. Online games cannot be made and maintained by one person alone, and I'm sure that no RSPS has ever achieved greatness without the combined efforts of at least several people. A lot of projects fail not because of technical problems, but because of internal conflict.

    Goals

    To create a self-sustaining game that initially hosts a plethora of early incentives (PvP, PvM, Skill) and content fitted to all types of communities (Solo, Team, Duo). Nothing is worse than logging into a new RSPS and realising how similar it is to the one you've just quit. I'd love to focus on a semi-fast based economy without infecting it with pay2win items, or unbalanced rates and modes that separate communities. I want to look at this from a players perspective who is coming to RSPS and remove the things we evidently hate about the real game. I'd also like to incorporate things you don't typically see in the average RSPS that are still within OSRS itself (unused items, areas, bosses, monsters etc) and add new mechanics that fit within Geilinor.

    I believe that with my ideas, and the right people on board to help me push through it; we could achieve something fantastic, so brilliant that I can almost guarantee a big return of players and hope for.     My skillset

    • Java (Basic things, won't create issues to hinder development, understand basic OOP)
    • Version control (85% Familiar with git and version control in general, refuse to work with dropbox lol?)
    • Project management (Can cover most of this and keep development, team & player relations at a very smooth pace)
    • Digital and online marketing (I believe I excel with this for the best possible ROI)
    • Website & Forum management (I'm quite decent with forum development and management, and somewhat okay with backend website work)



    Your Skillset

    • Be willing to use version control is a must
    • At least a few years of Java experience with a proven track record
    • Have been apart of a team environment before
