It's been a while since the last update! On the side of getting ready for a wedding, I've been tapping away at creating the August Trading Post.

Having a way for players to be able to effectively trade items in an asynchronous manner has been a key piece of functionality missing from the server so far.

Everything here was made from scratch, and surprise surprise, was a lot more complex than I initially thought it'd be

Check it out below, where you can see the four main tabs:
    - Buy: by default showing recent listings, but with the ability to search by item name.
    - Sell: where you choose the item you want to sell, the currency you want to sell it for, select the duration for it to be listed, and the amount of items you want to sell.
    - Auctions: where you can see your in-progress/complete/expired/cancelled listings, collect items/currency that you're owed, and cancel listings if they are in progress.
    - History: where you can see your purchase history.

One key thing here was the incorporation of a tax, which scales with the duration of the listing - where the longer you list an item for, the more tax you pay (up to a max of 1% for 7 days). But with 24 hour listings where you are confident that it will be picked up, you can pay as little as 0.5%.

    Would love peoples' feedback!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the year comes closer to the end, updates have slowed down a little, but there still definitely are some things to update you on!

    Olympus Raids - Apollo

As part of the Olympus Raids, the boss fight with Apollo is nearing completion. You can see a whole bunch of sneak peaks over in #sneak-peak (Discord) for the various items and fight mechanics, but I'm going to leave most of it to being discovered by players as they progress through the content.

With a new raid boss, naturally comes a range of new high tier equipment! Here's what exists so far:
    1. Luminary circlet
    2. Luminary shoulder guards
    3. Luminary legs
    4. Heavenly bow

These are crafted from some of the newer component items:
    1. Luminary bow string, Heavenly bow frame
    2. Olympian ore, Refined olympian ore, Olympian bar
    3. Luminary essence

And they require players having a high crafting, smithing, and fletching level to create all of the items.

Refined olympian ore can be created by using the "refine" option on regular olympian ore, with a mining level of 100.
This benefits from all of the same gatherer perks that you know and love, meaning there's a chance to smelt a bar without any secondary components, and/or double the item.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can now move between different instances as a party!

Upon completion of the Apollo boss fight, some dense forest will appear to the north, which will allow you (and your party) to progress to the next stage of the raid.

All players in the instance must accept the request for the whole party to move on, and the party leader (whoever starts the raid) must be the one to initiate the request.

With the core updates made to facilitate this, the whirlpool in the Hestia part of the raid can now also take you through to the Poseidon boss fight.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dexterous and Arcane prayer scrolls added, plus drop table tweaks.

The Apollo drop table has been updated to include the Dexterous prayer scroll, which seemed fitting, given the other high tier ranged gear he drops.

Also, a mega rare table has been added which will drop pre-crafted gear, similar to what Poseidon already had. This is meant to be extremely rare though, and the vast majority of gear is intended to come through the regular rare drop table, via the hands of skilled crafters.

Similarly, Poseidon's drop table has been updated to include the Arcane prayer scroll. Again, a fitting inclusion given the magic-based gear that he drops.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Trading post updates:
    1. Listings are now correctly ordered by date
    2. The number of active listings you can have as a player is tied to your donator rank, rewarding those with higher rank so they can have more active at one time.
    3. Fixed a bug where complete listings would show as "Expired" incorrectly, when they are actually "Complete"
    4. Your auctions will show the auctions where you have pending collections at the top, followed by those without pending collections, ordered by time.
    5. The "Auctions" tab has been renamed to "Listings", since these... aren't auctions.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Other updates:
    1. Raking now gives farming XP
    2. Balls of wool have been added to the general store
    3. Luminite dust has been renamed to Luminite flux
    4. Rock crabs and Hobgoblins will now drop bones, herbs, and monster parts (if on slayer task)
    5. General Graardor has been updated to have a much more engaging combat cycle to make it feel a bit more stronger, as you'd expect for the level of gear it drops.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    What's coming next?

Well I'm going on my honeymoon for a month, so development will slow down a bit during that, but there are a BUNCH of changes of varying sizes that I have in a big backlog to keep working on.

Some of the more major things in there include:

    - Updating the prestiging system to allow you to choose an item upon prestiging which you can have your character able to wield without any stat requirements, making each subsequent combat prestige journey easier than the last, and feel more and more rewarding.

    - Finishing off adding in the God Wars bosses, each with their own unique (more minor than the raids) combat mechanics, similar to how General graardor currently exists with a bit of a more engaging combat encounter than what you're used to.

    - Updating the item production interface to save a lot of interface real estate, and make it a whole lot more usable. Also, removing the annoying 4 item limit for how many components an item can be made out of.

    - Updating smithing to have a similar mechanic like RS3 burial sets, where you can use your produced junk items to get you more XP, if you don't want the GP from them.

    - A gem boss fight to round out the set of content with the existing sapphire->zenyte dark beasts and drakes.

Aaaaaand much more that I'll leave for future posts to update on!
Really looking forward to the new year with a bunch of awesome updates, and hopefully a release data announcement sooner rather than later.

The production interface has had a complete overhaul!

It should be much easier to navigate through the various tiers and items, with a new grid view for the main set of items, where the information for any selected item will show at the bottom when you click on one.

Another huge improvement from the previous interface is that it will actually save your scroll position, and restore back to where you were when you open the interface again. So no more needing to scroll down to the platebody you were making to make the next set after banking!

So you can consider that TODO from above completed
    - Updating the item production interface to save a lot of interface real estate, and make it a whole lot more usable. Also, removing the annoying 4 item limit for how many components an item can be made out of.

It just seems overly confusing and advanced for the average RSPS player. Hopefully you do find the perfect community one day that will cherish your hard work.

You certainly have won me over on the uniqueness and I applaud you for doing something no one has ever done before, keep it up!

Not sure if that's more of a comment on the complexity of the systems in the game, or a comment on the average intelligence of the market

Seriously though, I appreciate the feedback. Certainly a big part of my job is making the systems intuitive, as well as providing the right onboarding and accessible information to players so that it's not a daunting task getting started.

I'd like to have the people who have been beta testing comment with their perspectives! My perception of the complexity isn't too valuable here.

Thank you for the kind words - I'm glad this is something that interests you. I'm definitely trying to work from first principles here and build an objectively good game, not (completely) appeal to the masses and their expectations of what every RSPS tries to be.

In all honesty. I do appreciate your comment. But... I've been Beta testing for quite some time and it really isn't too complex at all. Everything makes sense when you're in the game and looking at the crafting recipes etc. It's all put together well and shows exactly what is needed to make everything. I do agree and really hope we can work together and build a decent core group of people on full release. I do hope you come along to give it a test when it releases and I feel you'd be pleasantly surprised!

The Slayer helmet and Slayer helmet (i) are now available to players.

The previous slayer XP store has been replaced with a slayer point store, which now includes the two new items:
    1. Slayer helmet parts
    2. Slayer helm imbue scroll

You can use these items to create and upgrade a slayer helmet.

The regular slayer helmet increases all 3 combat styles damage by 10%, with an accuracy bonus of 7%.

The imbued slayer helmet increases all 3 combat styles damage by 15%, with an accuracy bonus of 12%.

Here's a quick look at the 'slayer helmet parts' item. The 'slayer helm imbue scroll' looks suspiciously the same as the ring of wealth imbue scroll
    Attached image

Here you can see the recipe for the slayer helmet, including the slayer helm parts
    Attached image

And here, the recipe for the imbued slayer helm
    Attached image

The bones you can see as part of the recipes are basic/normal/superior monster parts, which are drops from various slayer creatures of varying levels of difficulty. Those monster parts were previously only able to be combined into slayer mystery boxes, but now are used here.

There's been a bunch of updates since I last posted! Check them out below:

    Production interface update

The production interface has been updated to remember your selection of tier and item, and scroll position. A much needed QoL update!

    Attached image

    Skill guides

Skill guides showing all of the custom content available, and the levels they require, were another much needed update.

This brings a whole bunch of information to the surface to help players along the way. These were added for every single skill.

    Attached imageAttached image

    Skill prestiging

Tacked onto the aforementioned skill guides is information on skill prestige perks which are making their way into the game, as you can see below.
This will be a way for players to continue their journey through all of the different skills and all of the different content available, getting stronger as you go.

    Attached imageAttached image

    Ironman mode

This one's huge! The game mode selection interface has been completely rewritten, and now includes the ability to select your ironman mode as part of your character gameplay customisation.

    Attached image

Be careful not to die as a HCIM though. Not only will you lose your status, but you'll be publicly shamed in the discord.

    Attached image

    Speaking of Discord...

I had a lot of fun implementing a character linking mechanism, so that your in-game details can be synced against your Discord server-profile roles! Check it out.

You start by typing '::linkdiscord' in game, and you'll be given a code which you enter via a slash-command in Discord to create a link between the two accounts.

    Attached image
    Attached image

As you change between game mode, donator rank, membership tier, ironman mode, etc. your Discord roles will automatically update!

This isn't just for updating roles, though. The framework I've built here brings in a huge amount of possibilities.

Perhaps you might want to opt into receiving trading post updates via Discord message, so you know when somebody has bought your stuff!

    In other news!

Chat icons have been added in for donator ranks.

    Attached image

The ceremonial brazier in the Hestia raid room will remain lit for 2 minutes and require 3 logs to light, rather than the previous 5 logs for 30 seconds.

    Attached image

The bronze axe spawn in the Hestia room will also be much better at chopping the olympian logs. What a pain in the ass it was before!

Stealing honey from the bees also has a much higher success rate, and will now stack in your inventory. Marinating the giant fish and creating olympian feasts is a much more pleasant (and less time consuming) activity!

    Attached image

While we're talking about raids, Poseidon has also been significantly beefed up in terms of stats and mechanics.

He's much more in-line with Apollo's combat encounter difficulty. Good luck, when you get there! It's quite the challenge now.
