Welcome to a project I had begun in early January of 2021.

What started as a way to better understand the back end protocols lead to a project.

Started with the OpenOSRS RuneLite client and begun to dig through the code to find that RuneLite makes the client and obtaining the data I would need a lot easier.
So I begun looking around for information on the OSRS protocol to see it went to the JS5, so I went and learned what I could about it from git's like https://github.com/guthix

After spending a week or so figuring it out and getting my client to download the cache, I needed a way to verify it went over as planed, so I spent another week to study and write up a login system and figured out the rendering,
I spent the next few weeks working on the packets, and while this part of building a server is not "easy" it's made easier with the knowledge available today than back in 2008

After I had it to a state where I could accept a connection and render the player and reading up on how server's like RS-Mod handled the OSRS protocols, I was able to tell a few friends about it and had them test skills
as I took my time to figure out the core things and was able to bring more solid features, that being said I am currently missing some things like bank tabs, sorting and the incinerator, however the closed Alpha crew of Testers
have been breaking my code and helping me better myself and my code. This is a personal project and I will not be putting it Open Source, but that's because I want to learn the OSRS Protocols better as well as how they handle the network.

I've chosen Fossil island as the 'Home' location, and have gone to the roots of RSPS and decided to use the existing map as a source of a Custom server. So I won't be importing new models, I have gotten a couple interfaces from a friend(wants to remain anonymous)
so I've got the Volcano entrance that will bring you into Brimhaven, there is a Cave near home where you can enter Taverly Dungeon, our Barrows armor set effects are a custom touch thanks to a community member's suggestion, polled for a week and won.
The Cave near the Base Camp is not the Wyverns; it's a basic slayer dungeon. and other locations have been spread around.

I'm trying to stay away from the RS2 Main Map and using most of the maps that OSRS introduced as the 'main' world. The NPC Spawns are not all where OSRS has them, to fit with the end game plan for the server.
I've been Scraping the wiki when I add new NPC into the game, so the drops, stats, weaknesses, etc. for most of the NPC's are "accurate" to OSRS, but some have been changed. Most things are the same as OSRS as I can get, just to retain familiarity.

Bosses... So disclaimer... I played RuneScape since the days of RSC, I was fairly dedicated up to EoC, I stuck it through until NXT, but just lost interest in the game style.... When Jagex launched the 2007 Remake, I jumped on it with some friends
and spent a couple days playing it, but then left it cause I played that when it was RS2. I left before GWD was put in, So if the Boss was not a boss from the era from that to where they clearly differ from RS3, I have NOT played any OSRS exclusive Bosses. So I have added in the ones I know well, and the couple I don't I've been studying Wiki and watching YouTube videos of people doing it, or for better quality; a friend of mine has been recording short clips for me to see the mechanic in action and get timing.
I am a little "slow" to add in the OSRS content because I have to learn it, like Cerberus. As for minigames, I've done Barrows and Fight Pits.

    Unique Content:

    Jewelry Recharging

That Glory you just used the last charge on, need a recharge?
Using the Level-5 enchant on the amulet while you have an Uncut or Cut Dragonstone in your inventory will charge it 4, or 6 respectively
Oh and there is a chance that this enchantment will produce an Eternal Glory

    Skilling Tasks

Inspired by Slayer, each Skill master will assign you tasks based on the mastered skill
Points are awarded as a tenth of the amount you were tasked to do, and the points are spent in their respected stores for an outfit or tool of their trade

    Discord Integration

Link you discord ingame, and aside from improved account security, you'll get a Discord role, and a nice bonus to your exp rate in game.
As well if you've linked your account, as well as completed the second part of the Spirit of Misc. Quest, you can use the Kingdom commands to check your workers, and collect your resources (Gif below)

    Social Skilling

Social Skilling is a thing here, so for example: Player A is throwing logs on the bonfire at home, now Player B comes along to use the same fire for burning logs, that's a 10% boost to your and their exp. Now Player C comes along and Player C is on your friend list, but you are not on theirs, so that's 20% for that person, now Player D decides to use the bone fire for Cooking food, this player has you added and you them, this is 30% boost to your exp's

    Non Friend social boost 10%
    one-way friend social boost 20%
    mutual friends social boost 30%

These exp boost stacks until you hit a cap of earning 3X the normal OSBY Exp

COVID may call for social distance, but on OSBY, grab a friend and Skill together

    Build-A-Bank

When grinding your skills like Smithing, fishing, the repetitive shit that requires bank runs. Wouldn't it be great if there was a bank near by? Build one. With Broken bank chests at Skilling locations you can use Nails, planks and metal bars for a Bank Chest that will last for 5 mins at bronze up to Perm for you at Rune.

    Magical Orbs

Hate running to that far off location, no convenient teleport or way to access it?

Unlocked after a short Quest to help an elderly Elf, you are able to use your RuneCraft skill (specific runes, unpowered orb on an altar) to make an Orb based on the Altar you use (Cosmic, Astral, Blood, Soul) you will receive the respected Orb. These orbs have a cap of charges they can hold and the amount you make it is based on your magic level when releasing the Orb.
Now you can view your book of Orbs from the Server tab (Quest tab : first sub tab) and then just simple click on the one you wish to teleport to.

I've got a Dev log on my Discord where I had a lot more datils on the early stages, and a Dev Blog where I just wrote my thoughts while developing the server.

I use the word 'I' a lot when talking about this in the early stages, but now I am a We, as the community has been giving me feedback and support from the Aussie who played every days, which happened to be when I went to bed,
to the surprisingly dedicated few who've seem to have the same passion about this project as I have grow to have with it. I would not be to this point with the server with out the ones who've helped me test.

I have been working on Moving the client and server to a higher reversion of OSRS since I want Jagex's clan update.

I've wrote in a Quest base and with this I have included the first of a 3 part quest series that will lead to something truly unique to the RSPS Scene and will make the server stand out.

The Second part of this quest series will make use of the Discord Connection I've finished, and the Kingdom of Misc. Giving the player the ability to manage the in game Kingdom with the help of a premade interface in game. Why not be able to manage that same kingdom while you're offline from your linked Discord account.
(There is a short GIF on the bottom to demonstrate linking them together)

Oh that's kinda cool, but not worth it still? well the Third and final Quest in the Series will now find new arrivals to your kingdom, including that of a brave adventure who will then raid the dungeons below Misc. that you opened up while completing the Quests. Likewise other citizens will then do tasks for you as well, all of which is manageable in game, or from my Discord Bot.

Also that item you put on the Trading Post, or the WIP Auction House just sold, you will get a DM on Discord if you're player is offline. Also lets say you wanna adjust, or remove your listing, simple command as well, also viewing and or bidding/buying other items from your phone on discord while you board AF at work.

    Still not enough?
Stick around for the plans I've not made public.

So I've been asked by a member of my discord about benefits of donating to the project...
Umm... It's not a project to make money, but rather push my own limits and trying new things, There was so much I wanted to do with the RSPS scene when I was younger, over 13 years ago when I came to the scene. Yes I have a store, mainly to keep the project online.

However some liked the idea of the cookie cutter idea of a Donator zone, so kinda like Construction, where you build predefined layouts, I've been working on a way to let the player buy an instance of an area (there's about 5 to pick from, I'm using the Scorpion Boss's room for testing) but have you ever wanted to just get props and build your own donator zone? maybe unlock some upgrades to the props for passive benefits, better rewards, maybe charge people an entry fee of GP to get into your place as well?

I've attached a GIF on the bottom of an early example

    Spoiler for Pictures:

    Skilling Tasks

    Fremennik Isles

    Build-A-Bank

Thanks, I want to bring something that is Old School; both back to the RSPS roots of creativity, but stick with the Old School game we all are addicted to...

I give you massive respect for taking the time and explaining your due process, it really sets the tone for what you want to achieve and how you plan to do it. Not many people can admit they are learning and doing this strictly for their benefit.

This sounds like an amazing endeavor. My only advice, stray away from the OSRS lore and create your own gameplay. Emulating OSRS has been the epitome for most mainstream servers and most have failed because no one wants to play a replica, having your own unique experience is hands down the best way to enjoy a RSPS. It appears you are already doing this and I applaud you for it, just don't change that path.

    Best of luck to you!

My legit goal is to keep enough OSRS mechanics that the game is familur, but have lore that makes sense, doesn't stray from the theme of the game, but does actually feel like something new and not another cookie cutter copy.

I tell people that if you understand the old YouTube videos Machinima; I am using their Game Engine, to create my own story... if that makes sense?

before I left the RSPS scene, Server's used the existing maps and dungeons and repurposed them for a new story, and this is the sort of aim. the roots of where the "custom server" came from (imo)

Working out the details of a Quest series to take the player on a journey to the entre of the earth, to reveal the mystery of Fremennik that dates back to their roots in the early years.

After the earth had shaken, the mines of the Kingdom of Misc. have collapsed, acidic gases and waters have leaked up and the mine in collapsed. The Dwarven race was hired by the Kingdom to repair the mine, but something went wrong, the mine has been left unstable and with no word from the last team of workers that went in, will you reveal the history that should have stayed lost in history.

The first quest of the 3 will take you on a trip into the mines and realize there may be no way out, can you find one, or make one?

and to slip in some humor from a favorite movie of mine I had to play on the dwarfs
