Yeah. Your question was in response to my question back at him. The initial statement was
At which point OP mentioned that there was access to Native Rendering in newer JavaFX and cited that article. I have not looked at JavaFX in over half a decade by I remember that it was a PITA to hack something together to work directly overtop the lower level toolkit.
well, i didn't read the whole topic but i interpreted ur 'A WriteableImage is 2d. Runescape is 3d.' statement as 'you can't render a 3d scene to a WriteableImage' which is why i asked how does that matter
im not sure about over a decade ago, but since 2019 (i think?) JOGL has a NEWT API(runelite also uses it), which can be used to integrate JavaFX and opengl(or swing and opengl), there are also some other options like LWJGL-FX, NativeFX but im not sure how well they work together.
edit: i do agree with you tho, it definately isn't the best choice for the client
We all good.
Yeah. I mentioned in my post that there was JOGL/LWJGL integrations for it.
The 2d/raster approach with JavaFX would be okay as a placeholder when porting the code from Applet/the current Canvas system.
But when it comes to actually moving the client away from the current drawing methods additional libraries would be needed unless OP wants to rewrite the whole client to use the JavaFX Scenegraph/Camera.
Goodluck
Thanks but I'm actually working on my old project: https://www.rune-server.ee/runescape...ape-c-lua.html except I'm going to port to osrs. I'll request thread deletion and update old one with a GitHub repo shortly.
