Not only does the age old argument of why play this over OSRS become apparent, but a more recent question of what separates this from Alora, Zaros or Zenyte? The OSRS argument has many potential answers, but I struggle to see many to the latter. Although bug ridden and poorly managed, those servers with a twist on the original game were what brought players to RSPS. Its the game they played or still play but with new aspects they've never seen and probably will never see in the original. How many RSPS players want to grind an entire 1:1 barrows run? Most barely even want to have to kill all 6 npcs, let alone work through the tunnels and solve puzzles.

Maybe I felt compelled to respond to this because I had the same mentality when writing Rigour back in 2016. I wanted to replicate the OSRS content I enjoyed 1:1, for nostalgia and in hopes of the success that I'd seen Alora gain. I've since come to realize, if you have the programming talent and really love building out these vanilla features why not just apply to the real deal? It seems like an awful lot of work and dispense of programming talent to recreate the wheel that has been recreated a couple times already. What does this offer that the others don't? If the answers is little to none, then the already split player base of 1:1 OSRS servers splits yet again. Continuing to dwindle the scene, and from a business perspective, continues to dwindle at profits.

I hope you all can take this as some feedback and best of luck with your project!
In theory I agree with you, personally I enjoy trying to make my own stuff (not that I even really have a project atm) at least close to 1:1 most of the time but you are right being able to add unique features to OSRS that would likely never make it to OSRS is very nice.

With that said, the reason for not applying to the real deal is because they are known for paying extremely low salaries - I'm quite early in my career and I already make over double what they pay their content developers. I would never work for them just based off of salary alone.

Plus with RSPS you have a lot more freedom as to what you can work on. If you want to add a new skill to RSPS you can, with OSRS not so much.

Not too sure about that, it's at 0 . It would have to go minus to even be remotely close to his IQ.

ur sort of right (not really), idk why anyone would want to play an emulator, but also why do you even mention barrows lmao, thats literally the ONLY mechanic in osrs where you HAVE to kill 6 all npcs to get the final loot

You don't. Doing so just improves loot chances. You can only kill one brother and that'll unlock that brother's loot, however at a rather low drop rate.

Most RSPS players that are still left in the scene play RSPS for these reasons:
    - Fast experience
    - Easier loot
    - The friends they've made over the years in RSPS
    - Fresh start opportunities/a chance to make some sort of a name for themselves in however small the community is

Content that differs from OSRS is generally not what people want, a minority may, sure - you do occasionally see someone pop up and complain over all the servers being the same out there, but the other five thousand+ players left in the scene aren't looking to play a new game. They just want the same RS they're used to, but quicker and easier.

It does not help that private servers are still not at a stage where custom content development is in any way viable. Sure you may put in a lot of effort to get your models looking pretty, but there's a lot more needed to get it to feel like it actually belongs in the game. No one in RSPS is producing sound effects(most servers don't even seem to have them implemented), no one's really producing graphic effects, animations are rare as shit and when they are made, they're usually trash. The editors aren't particularly good. Maps are the only thing that have really reached a stage where it's viable to produce custom ones. Even models themselves are lackluster - you might have a couple modellers produce a few swords and npcs but that is still far from the immersiveness you'd expect from a proper custom piece of content - no one out there is producing object models or thinking about any sort of scenery.

Ontop of all that, the servers that do try to appeal to players with their custom content don't even have their server's core properly written out, what's a few customs worth when the game doesn't even work properly in the core. Takes years just to get the core functionality proper.

Slowly but steady is Bitrune getting a rounded gameplay experience. Our dear beta testers keep making reports on a daily basis which strives us forward to better updates. Bitrune has yet again some updates for you guys, just like last time some of the media was taken mid development, so you may notice some hitches but rest assured they've been taken care of on the final product.

Our most important feature ever: full sheep shearing and interactions. Can't forget about that, can we?

All underground tunnels/shortcuts now fully work!

    Spoiler for pics:

Mort myre fungi now is obtainable by casting Bloom with a blessed Silver Sickle!

    Spoiler for pics:

Coded an automated dialogue dumping, to give a more immersive experience! No more missing dialogues from now

    Spoiler for pics:

Even more shortcuts and areas are becoming accessible!

    Spoiler for pics:

Tired of running all day and your running meter is low? Go sit down a bit, let your blood pressure get fixed!

    Spoiler for pics:

And as final for this update log, we have modified the login sprites to match our new client background. (Excuse the bad gif quality).

Today we don't have a huge list of updates, however we have a very interesting new addition to Bitrune, Nex! The well loved pre-eoc boss Nex has been added and optimized for Bitrune. A boss that adds a ton of fun and unlocks new armour for melee, range and magic!

Fully functional Nex boss at Godwars; optimized to osrs standards.

    Spoiler for More media:

Spoiler for Nex boss in action:

Added godwars Npc vs Npc in the mid section

    Spoiler for image:

Fixed various visual bugs, that involved marking items as full body, full helmet, etc

    Spoiler for images:

prayer's now queue when stunned or locked during combat
