Perfect firemaking, took a good while to figure out how to approach it.
I'm pretty sure that the log being removed from the inventory has to be the one you've used with the tinderbox, instead of just removing the first log available.
Edit: Not sure if intended but the ashes are supposed to show up in a random interval instead of fixed, and they take much longer than shown in the gif.
