Welcome to the landing page for a brand new nostalgia trip, a place where you can forge new relationships, slay beasts and enjoy a generous and entertaining curve towards "legend" status. Gone are the days that RuneScape provided wonder and questions, in with the new, and forcing the old into it's grave. While the official Oldschool RuneScape game has proven to bring entertainment to old and new players alike, the feel of exploration and having your loot, and wealth mean something has been lost. Today I want to introduce to you a familiar, yet new, way to enjoy your favorite game, a new experience.. ScapeOS.

ScapeOS aims to bring back the joy of trading peer to peer, and working hard to gain the best available loot. However, not too hard! With a generous experience rate of 5x (baseExperience * 5), you won't feel like you're staring at a particular tree for too long, nor will you feel that the game has nothing left to offer after your first couple of hours. Competing with other players, and obtaining maximum levels is a grind that we all strive for, and at ScapeOS, we understand that you may have commitments on the outside that can leave you feeling left behind against those that have less external commitments. Offering this generous curve allows you to spend more time playing your favorite content, and enjoy the finer things in lif-, er well, ScapeOS. It's okay, ScapeOS is our life.

While ScapeOS is striving to be a 1:1 emulation, we can't help but offer a few quality of life additions that can help you and your friends along the way. With the introduction of resource caskets offering simple to extraordinary rewards, you can get the little boost you need to make a proper stance on the stage. With powerful tools, and knowledge of our revision, we're positive we can introduce familiar and new content (as voted by the community!) that can help keep the continuity of how you remember RuneScape, while providing fresh content that can keep you entertained for the future. Our plan of action for the next little bit however, is ensuring we nail down the 1:1 emulation and providing you with an entire world of content that you can enjoy and participate in.

ScapeOS is backed by Arios (credits to the Arios team, and all that have spent time collecting and developing the core content we are blessed to begin with!) meaning a lot of work has been done for us already, but we still have so much more work to go. Taking our first dive into Arios (ScapeHD), we have decided to convert the source to the 464 revision and rewrite a lot of the core systems to suit our needs and development strategies. A lot of work has been put into ScapeOS already, and we're excited to continue the work!

Committing the cache to github is a bad idea, jagex can easily take down your repo with a copyright request.

Good call, thanks Scu11. I'll upload the caches elsewhere

You've only created a revert commit for it; it's still in the actual git history. You'll probably want to use https://rtyley.github.io/bfg-repo-cleaner/ to rewrite the history and remove that kind of thing. Also, for what it's worth, you can also remove the library folder since you've got ivy.

Any reason you're using such an old version of Apollo, by the way?

Thanks for the heads-up, I'm still learning source control after spending eons on Dropbox. New year, new me!

The reason being it was quicker for me to see progress just by using Cjay's updated OnDemand service for the 400+ clients, and I can't personally see where the latest Apollo will benefit this project. If there's something I might be missing from the updated Apollo that should prove to be mandatory, I can work to bring that in. Too much of a instant gratification kind of guy so to speak.

It's getting late, but I've started work on core but easy packets to get a feel for the packet structuring in Apollo. The following packets have been added, as well as some methods for deploying them.

    • ConfigEncoder
    • ChatModelEncoder
    • CS2ScriptEncoder
    • RunEnergyEncoder

Tomorrow I should be able to find some time to take a look at player and npc updating, as well as get a start on some incoming packet handling. There'll be an update to the public code once these are completed.
