Introduction
RS-Reborn is a project I started back in January of 2014. My original goal was to emulation the 464 revision of RuneScape; however I stopped the project , and switch to the 530 revision. After nearly a month of development on the 530 revision, I, once again, stopped the project due to the 530 revision having too many flaws (in the client - there was too many problems with the client). After all of this, I finally decided that I wanted to FULLY emulation/remake RuneScape in the 377 revision, to my best ability of course.
Due to the lack of content in this revision, we do plan to keep upgrading revisions to keep players from getting bored. We will not be upgrading to any higher revision until a good majority of the content is completed (100% bug free) for our current revision. All revision upgrades will also be polled to assure that the community wants them - we don't want another RuneScape (if you know what I mean).
You may be thinking "why are they using this website if past project(s) have used it, and it didn't end well?", well... We're aiming for have a 100% emulation/remake, which means this website is needed as we're going to be making it 100% (to the best of our ability) along with having it fully integrated with the game servers. We're prepared to handle any 'obstacle' that may get in our way while using this website.
We understand that from most people in the emulation/remake community are very sick and tired of wasting their time training their accounts to their best ability, then having it all down the drain due to the project being closed. We're very sorry for this and will do whatever it takes to make sure this project won't be a repeat of that. You wont have to worry about the project being closed/stopped for a very long time as we're very dedicated to get this project finished, and have it publicly play-able, for many years.
We fully understand that there have been many, many remakes of the 2005-2007 era. Despite of that, we're very dedicated to get this project done, and do it right, hint out slogan "Doin' It Right".
Since we're aiming this to be a FULL remake of the game, we encourage anyone who can to help out with providing us data and information on things we may need. This includes some of the following (just a general idea):
- Skill data
- Formula(s)
- Spawn locations (for NPC)
- Dialogue
- Images (for the website, if you find any that we're missing or might need)
- Cache & Client (if you have a cache/client that you feel we may need, feel free to send it to us)
- Development tools
The Team
Currently our staff team is pretty stable; however if you're good enough, we'll always consider letting you onto the team.
Staff members:
- Mod Michael: Mod Michael is our lead developer, he is also head of the Project, basically meaning that he's the owner of the project. Michael works pretty much on everything within the game.
- Mod John: Mod John is one of our content developers. John normally works on things such as quests and dialogue.
- Mod John W: Mod John W is our NPC specialist. His job is to make sure that all NPC's are where they should be and to make sure they have their correct dialogues and actions; pretty much everyone does dialogues and NPC actions, though.
- Mod Robert: Mod Robert is one of our content developers. Robert mainly works on things such as skills and general content (e.g. pick-able items, such as picking cabbage).
- Mod Anto: Mod Anto is our one and only website developer. All of the website updates you see are from him, although sometimes Michael will produce small little updates.
- Mod Thomas: Mod Thomas is our community manager. Thomas basically manages all of our player moderators and forum moderators, along with the rest of the community (all staff members do this, but this is one of his main focuses). Thomas will also be the one organizing all of the community events held at RS-Reborn!
Game
We're using a renamed 377 deob, loading a 377 cache.
The server build is a scratch NIO framework.
Please Note: All F2P content is being worked on before any P2P content is worked on; however if there is P2P content within F2P content, it will get added; for example, the F2P skill Cooking has P2P features, these features will still be added, although pure P2P content will be worked on last (i.e Agility skill).
