Hey guys.
Maby this is the wrong place to post this kind of question, but i feel like this was the only place i found fitting.
So my question would be this. How do i go about re-launching a server that has been dead for a while. Do i rebrand it and start from 0 or just continue from where i left and start working on it again?
I would suggest putting a lot of work into it and then rebranding/relaunching, best of luck.

Not sure if this helps but when I get stuck on making models look good i often look back on the parts that made it stand out and parts which people really liked. I try to use that as a start point and expand off that. I dont own a server so I cant say exactly what needs to be done but maybe take a look into what people enjoyed about your game and try figuring out what about it gave it that charm so you could expand off it
You need to look at why it became dead in the first place. Even with re branding and changes, if the same path is taken then history will most certainly repeat itself.

When I checked back later it said "If you don't know then you need to re-evaluate" and I felt compelled to respond because I saw that he'd taken the time to edit his post, but it was still just as ridiculous and just as much of a nonanswer. Relaunching a server is a tricky matter that I have no experience with. I'd prefer not to waste OP's time by giving a quick response solely to make my post appear on-topic. I was more interested in calling out Tojad's bizarre behavior and expressing sympathy for OP.Quote:

Click Here To Register...] I think it would help to know what server you're trying to relaunch, how many players it had at its peak, how long it's been inactive, and whether or not you've got a discord server for it. If it was relatively small and has been inactive for a while, it seems like you're best off fixing it up and putting a fresh face on it by rebranding. If it was fairly popular and has been offline for several years, you might be able to keep the same name and use the nostalgia card to your advantage. Scrolling through your post history I see PartyScape and Al Kharid, which both seem to be short-lived and not super popular. If it's either of those I say go with the former option.

I've been in your position. There are a few things you will have to ask yourself.
1. Am I creating this server for financial gain?
2. Do I still have players left from the old server?
3. Do people even remember the server name?
4. How outdated is the current content? (If so, then you have to spend loads of development time/money to keep up to date)
5. Do I have the money to invest in development/marketing?
You will have to answer some hard questions and you are gonna need money to invest. If you don't have that in 2019 it's gonna be VERY hard to create a successful server.
Depending on how big your old server was the best thing to do is a re-brand. (Though like Jigsaw said, if it's a really old server you could play the nostalgia role, but I doubt many will remember).
IF you have an email list from your old server, you could send a mass mail telling old players that you're returning under a different name. (Just an example)
