    Hello,

    I'm trying to get my server to connect to a mysql database that I'm locally hosting using Apache Xampp.

    I followed this tutorial to learn about Hikari - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    I have configured it using Hikari using a mysql.properties file.

    Code:
    jdbcUrl=jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mydb
    maximumPoolSize=5
    username=root
    password=
    This is in the mysql.properties file ^.

    I know the database is running because when I have the mysql apache server running, the server tries to connect to it, but fails 40 seconds later due to being timed out.
    If I have the apache mysql offline, then the server immediately throws an error 1 second after starting it.

    Code:
    The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. The driver has not received any packets from the server.
    19:34:49.271 [main] DEBUG com.zaxxer.hikari.pool.HikariPool - null - Cannot acquire connection from data source
    com.mysql.cj.jdbc.exceptions.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure
    However, I keep getting this error. I have tried to debug it for couple of hours now, but no luck. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    I believe you need to set the following on the physical MySQL server:

    default time
    max_allowed_packet
    bind-address

    Make sure your java code is using the latest jdbc driver, with the correct username, and password included in the url with the database.

    Those fields are already defined in the physical mysql database.

    How do I add the user and pass to the url?

    Can you connect to the database with a different client?
