    Hello Guys,

so i recently started with Java. I asked arround the rsps scene what would be the best to start with.

Long story short - Apollo it is. Im using this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

So I've tried to setup Apollo using this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Already in the first steps of setting up Apache Ant and Apache Ivy i've come across some problems:

    Spoiler for :
    ]

I've done the things that were told me using the Guide (Link Above)

I've looked into some tutorials, in how to setup Apach Ant and did the exact same things.

    My folder is located here:
    C:\Program Files\apache-ant-1.10.1
(I didnt do anything with Apache Ivy yet.

I also have Eclipse and really would prefer using it. I haven't find yet a guide on how to setup Apollo using IDE Eclipse.
Also whenever i try to run Apollo, by simply using Eclipse only (Not only that it shows error !)

it says Fehler: Hauptklasse org.apollo.Server konnte nicht gefunden oder geladen werden: Which means: Failure: Mainclass org.apollo.Server couldn't be located.

^ But why does Eclipse show me it's there and i can probably run it? I've heard i have to apply Apache Ivy into Eclipse - How do i do that?

    Now to the Client

Like i said im really new to this.

I've already downloaded some Sources. such as PI, Nardah2, Vencillo, Delta.

Sources which already had a client i could run easily w/o any troubles - some fixes or IP changes to localhost didnt make any trouble too.

But what if i download a source that doesnt have a client!?

How to figure out what client the source needs? Example 317 loading 377.
And how do i find such clients?

What settings do i have to change to make the client compatible with the source im trying to use?

So for example, i've once downloaded a nice looking PI source which needed some rework on skills.
It didn't have a client, so i downloaded one. Server running NP, Client editing the IP to localhost NP.
    Starting both up NP.

But then it loads the client 2 secs and an error comes up "Error connecting to server, retrying in XX"

Feel free to Post any Guides, Tutorials, even Links - ANYTHING that could help!

Any help i can get for this problem is appreciated. I also have Skype, TeamViewer, IRC, Discord.

Apollo is not the best to start with in my opinion. Just about anyone else here will tell you otherwise because rune-server is a big circle jerk around the user "Graham."

Apollo is good, don't get me wrong( and definitely one of the best, if not the best). But I'd be willing to bet that most people here don't actually know why Apollo is a good framework. Rather, they just parrot back the statements of high reputated users holding that Apollo is the best no matter what. I've seen it quite literally hundreds of times, and it's kind of annoying. But anyways...

I would reccommend Elvarg for you because it's a clean, easily understandable framework with solid structure and decent code. The fact that it's relatively clean of content will help you learn how to create your own content.

Freyr's Astraeus is also a solid base. But either way, if you are dead set on Apollo, I urge you to reconsider. Even if you don't Luna by lare96 is what I prefer over Apollo even.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Its cool that you're trying to learn and you'll be able to learn with whatever base nowadays (besides PI). Don't let people force you to use a certain base just because high rep users say it's good.

If you need help while learning at all you can also pm me for skype.
