Hello! I have recently been interested in coding an RSPS, but now that it's summer I think now would be a good time for me to start learning. So, where should I start? I don't really know how to code at all, so if someone could point me that way too that would help. Thanks.

P.S. I am not looking for a server to be up in 1-2 days, I want to start a project and gradually get better at coding until I feel as if I can code a server without screwing anything up. Thanks again.

P.S.S Posted before on another rsps forum, posted here so I can get additional replies.

Most people will recommend you to start with Hyperion/Apollo as they're the most stable framework but can also be the most difficult to start with, especially if you don't even know the basics.

Id recommend reading upon some beginner materials found on the web, start learning the basics such as methods & variables to get the literal basics so you can begin to read and understand what everything is doing, even if you don't understand it fully you have a general idea.

First java tutorials to learn the basics and have a grasp of what Java can do. Apollo is unfinished and not really new user friendly, even still not a lot even develop with it. Hyperion has a fair start and possibly what you're looking for to start on.
PI is very poorly constructed and is generally the lowest level of java, if you don't want to learn java fully then PI is probably the route but if you're serious about learning then Hyperion of a custom framework that's been released in the RS2 Section.

    Good luck on your choice.

Yes, as RS Wiki has pointed out, If you do decide to pick PI you will end up picking up on bad-habits, as most of the released versions are poorly constructed. Hyperion is definitely the best choice especially if you don't intend to host any time soon.

Looks like I'll get started learning Java, as I'm not planning to host for a long time (probably 1-1.5 years) so I can pickup on everything that I need and add unique content. Any good sites for learning java?

EDIT: Where can I get hyperion as well? Thanks.

Lynda (you can go on piratesbay and download a copy of their series there)
    TheNewBoston (sorta recommend)
    *General tutorials on youtube*
    Java documents (search on google)
StackOverflow is a nice place to learn from mistakes, get help, get feedback on a better choice, etc.. recommend checking it out

otherwise look on google for the rest of your stuff.

Not sure if it was said but learning the actual basics of java before jumping into RSPS is your better option.

Thanks. How far should I get into learning it before I can start coding an rsps?

Id say to the point where you are able to debug bugs, read code and start to understand it (basic idea). Just so you aren't clueless and posting help-threads for the most basic of stuff.
