Looking for a good source and client to help me learn

I know there is Apollo but that's a bit above my knowledge atm. I did see the completely cleaned out PI and was a little interested in that. I have also been considering Hyperion, but with the lack of popularity (Not a ton of posts with related content) i'm a bit skeptical about using it in case I need help, I am considering it though as it would most likely force me to right a lot of my own code. Now, I do have a pretty good grasp of Java and have programmed for a while (took an intro course and read a few lengthy books). I'm looking for these suggestions so I can get my first dedicated project going, would love for you guys to leave some reasons why you suggest your sources, will rep and thank!

I would highly recommend improving your skills and then coming back and using Apollo.

Wouldn't that require me to learn ruby as well? At the moment im more interested in homing in my skills in Java before moving on to another language.

Yes but Ruby is fun and very easy to pickup, you might even find it easier to understand Java after learning Ruby (really depends on the person). Also you will learn more from Apollo then any other base, and you really should have a good understanding of the languages before attempting to code in it.

Thanks for all the advice, I think im gonna spend I couple days looking through code of Apollo then try to learn some ruby over the next couple of weeks.

telling you from now if you get trapped in the "PI loop" it's going to hinder your learning and make it incredibly hard to use a better developed base in the future
