For the client, I suggest using one of, say, Galkon's releases (there are many more other great clients out there). For the server I would just suggest using a clean one and add on to it gradually so you're aware of everything that's already in it.

Need a good 474 source as I'd like to begin a big project on it... must be with a client or be compatible with another client. links to both would be greatly appreciated!
