I'm looking into developing a private server, preferably from a good source. Years ago I used to work on them, but it's been a long time and I'm trying to start out with the basics. Could anyone recommend me a good source that's noob-friendly?

Cheezscape-80-PK is good. Don't use PI or Delta.

Apollo, Hyperion & RuneSource would be the best selections to start from scratch and learn something.

No. Why would you recommend PI to someone that is trying to learn java?

PI is a good beginner source. Get the fundamentals and basics down, then move to them. You just can't go right into hyperion without any prior knowledge.
