Is this a linux vps? or windows? cause hostgator doesn't have windows vps's...

This problem happened recently. When i start the server, i cant connect my client to the vps. No one else can either. This was not a problem before. I tried changing to port 43595 and it didnt work. This isn't a port error. I emailed hostgator and they said port 43594 was open.
Is this a linux vps? or windows? cause hostgator doesn't have windows vps's...
If hostgator doesnt have a windows vps then of course its linux.
