I do think it is impossible to host/run your server on your device.
Although, goodluck.

Well, i wanted to mess around and do something for RSPS while learning at the same time.
I want to make a RSPS that runs on an iOS device such as an iPhone, iPad, iTouch etc. natively.
I think it would be pretty nice to have a basic 317 that was natively programmed in cocoa objective c.
I could even add a nice GUI to manage it too.
I think this project would be interesting and help me bridge the gaps between objective c and java for me.
Tell me what you think. If you think it's dumb that's fine, just tell me why.
My argument would be iPad2 has a duel core 1GHZ processor and iPad 3 will have a quad core. Seeing something new would be cool.

Nothing is impossible if you put the effort into it.
I already know off the bat that it can be done with a development license from apple or having it jail broken. Also, this would be an open source project. I'm not looking to make money off this nor will it be in the app store because that would be stupid.
Goodluck I guess.

I think it'd be amazing to have an RSPS running on an iOS device. I recently bought an iPad 2 32GB WiFi tablet running iOS 5 and I really enjoyed it. But, being an Apple product it was obviously very, very limited. Long story short, I ended up returning it just simply because after trying out a lot of features on it I couldn't justify the $600 price tag. However, being able to play a basic 317 on a tablet, or even an iPhone (which would be interesting), or any iOS running device would really be a big step for programming and RSPS in general. If it can be done, I'd love to see it happen.
If you go through with attempting it, good luck. Who knows, if it happened then I may re-buy another iPad.
Of course it's possible - and very creative, excellent idea.
However, the specs needed would probably make this a waste of time, other than an excellent proof of concept.
If you do it, good luck.
It's proven that you can run a rsps off an ipod touch.
