My question is simple, I am going to implement some methods that appear in some rsps java files. I cannot call myself owner of them. Who can I reference or give credits too in order to avoid plagiarism?
this is urgent.
Thank you.
Nobody does.. it's open source.. some people release bases and people build from there, or build their own base.
So should i just reference the project?
Chances are that's leeched too. Just leave it if I were you. The only way you can really be sure is if you're using a server such as RuneSource, which is done by blake, and he gives credits to everyone who helped.
TL;DR Open source, nobody cares about referencing as long as you don't blatantly rip something and claim it as your own.
Just don't take credit for anything that you take, and you should be fine. It is not like people care about others taking their code anyway, unless of course you say you made it.
It's as the others say. If there was no valid license included, anyone that is pissed off can blame themselves.
As long as you didn't pay for it with licensing or anything then you're fine. Also, don't go ripping things then releasing them as your own.
Not quite correct. If it is open-source, someone, or several people, have copyright over the source code. Usually they add a license which releases most of the rights given by copyright, such that people can use the source code as they wish.
Actually, most people consider crediting as being very important in open-source. With people giving away all that code for free (which in many cases could cost thousands or millions of dollars to develop commercially), giving credits is the least you can do.
Also, most licenses basically ensure the author gets credits, as the license file (which also has their name in the copyright information) must remain in place in order for you to use the server.
Technically if there is no valid license included, you can't use or develop on top of it, as the original author still retains copyright over the code.
The only people are the people who started the code, they technically have some of the credits.
Basically the credits keep going from newer and newer developers.
Not really a true Owner to 'Rsps Code', but instead a variety of Developers.
