    how do i set up the vps? i bought a 74$ hostgator vps one.

    i need to make server run on it how though?

    If it was a linux you bought for the first time, okay, but not windows..

    Hostgator only sells linux hosting bro i think. And use Remote desktop to connect with the ip given. Username will usally be Administrator
