VPS's use Remote Desktop Connections. Go to your start menu > and in the search text box type in "Remote Desktop", open the remote desktop connection feature.

The company should have provided you with a RDIP (Remote Desktop Ip Adress) and the port which is usually left at default.

    This is for windows servers.

I think that's right, I have a dedicated server, and that's how I connect to it. I've never used a VPS, crap compared to dedicate servers.

Huge difference in accessibility compared to normal windows. If you're unexperienced with linux I suggest you don't use it.

There is no desktop and you must use the command prompt.

To connect to your server, you will need to download this: PuTTY: a free telnet/ssh client

Yea, you need PuTTY to make you connect to yourself, then use Tightvnc to connect to the remote desktop.
You have to enter alot of commands in PuTTY, but there are tutorials.
If you want to put files on it, you have to use WinSCP.
