You can't exactly "make" a server if you're using someone elses source - it's already been done for you. If you're talking about just adding a few NPC spawns, then it should only take 5 mins.

Well to be honest..judging by the opening post - the person wants a small locally hosted server for his friends to have fun with. So no he does not need any java experience because this is a fun server.
Just go with a source such as Delta or iClarity - one with most features already added and go with it. You can host your own source on your computer for free - but if you have a router you may have some issues.
Do you mean source as in Delta and Shard etc? And I don't even want any NPC's for my first server I just want for example mage bank/edgeville where me and a few mates can spawn pk.
And thanks Hunter, about the router thing, what do you mean? I'm currently using a netgear router for my connection.
There are a few "Port Forwarding" Guides out there, just search for 'em.
Mkay I found a site that has a guide for port forwarding for each router type. If I'm just using something like iClarity then what do I need to do from downloading that to having my "own" server that I can play with friends?
