Something like Project Settings -> Libraries -> Add Library -> Goto Plugin.jar and select that. For some reason I needed to do that; with the same error as you.

i've added plugin.jar to my project structure but its still giving the same error....?? I can't seem to clear it.

I've tried adding plugin.jar as well as javafx using 3 different jdk's old + new. Using Java8. Deleting javafx files and excluding them with no avail. This is quite frustrating. Thank you for your continued help lol.

sorry for double post but i figured it out myself i hope they update this in the tut for FAQ

But i had to use JDK 1.8.0_202 within i deleted "javafx-mx, jfxswt, javafx-src, javafx.properties" and set java language to 8 and go into settings and change project bytecode version to 8

the Applet API is deprecated, just comment the code out.
