Don't get your point. Someone has to filter the posts and check for accuracy regardless, even if everyone had stayed on topic someone would still have to manually go through and upload to the main post.

    Spoiler for Shop messages (currency=coins):

    • You don't have enough coins. (When trying to buy more items than you can afford)
    • You don't have enough inventory space. (When trying to buymore items than you can carry)
    • The shop has run out of stock. (When the shop is out of stock of an item)
    • You can't sell this item to a shop. (when checking the buy value of coins)
    • You can't sell this item. (When trying to sell an untradable item) & (when trying to sell an item not sold in a specialist store)
    • $s: shop will buy for $ coins. (when using the value option in the inv)
    • $s: currently costs $s coins. (When using the value opion on the shop)

Yeah that's the same regardless of format used, my point is in 10 years if someone want's this data it's more likely to have survive here in comments than any of the other formats. Links rot; files move, githubs are renamed, file hosting services close, self hosted databases/website are unlikely to last more than two years. That and posting a comment is far easier to contribute for everyone involved.

Maybe, but then the information here is only as safe as the host. Mopar sold out and look at all the info we lost there. Off-site links tend to do terrible, but keeping all your eggs in one basket isn't smart either. Imagine if we lost this site.

Yeah that's true, we already tasted that when the .org site got taken down. No reason someone couldn't back all this up somewhere too, just a question of which one is the source of truth and which one is the backup

OP should upload the document on multiple different hosts. Highest chance of it surviving that way. The only documents you find nowadays from like 10 years ago are those with multiple mirrored links, out of which only some still work.

OT good collection, will eventually contribute to it.

I thought it was implied what an online spreadsheet would be. Are you legitimately suggesting forums are the best for data retention?

If you really want the data retained the only serious route is hosting it yourself, for example mitb still has deobs uploaded from 06.

If history is anything to go by yes. This site has posts which are older than Dropbox, One-drive and Google drive. But as Kris rightly pointed out nothing beats mirring the data across multiple hosts. Which again for this data a spreadsheet would be the best format for.

If you want serious retention you want as many copies as possible. Multiple people self hosting + random hosting sites > Multiple people self-hosting > Multiple mirrors on random hosting sites > one person self hosting imo.
