Right but changing that isn't very hard to do especially in the more commonly seen areas such as the Quest Tab button, and the Welcome message which was pointed out earlier. If it was like some NPC dialogue or something more hidden then sure. It just looks bad regardless, because it is a server open to the public compared to it being a Private server just for you and a few mates.
If I logged into a server for the first time and I see "Necrotic" on like the select gamemode. I'm out, especially if it was a server that has no forums or anything. Just a download link from Dropbox.
I get that you're fully F2P, but still...
I respect your perspective. I've very seldom tried to make a server public so I guess I don't know what small details players are looking for.
I always focus on the content and update the game in a way that my friends and I enjoy.
Is a website necessary? I don't mind paying for one but I have zero experience with webpages or hosting a website. I assumed people really don't use them for RSPS anyway.
Ah okay, no worries mate.
Perhaps a Home page which has a Play Now Button, Discord button and maybe varies other things on it. Forums, not as much as I think they're pretty dead unless you've got a big community as Discord seems to be the way to go now.
It just makes it more attractive than a link to Dropbox. Plus you'd have to constantly post a new link whenever you do client changes, new cache etc.
What I mean by that is. If you got a Home Page with the Play Now button. This button you can just edit the link to whenever you want, while the Homepage URL stays the same.
With updating your cache, instead of having to make a new client everytime you do cache changes because the dropbox link is different. You can upload it to your website. For example www.paescape.com/Pae_cache.zip
Link will remain the same, you just need to have a working updater to check the version and upload your new cache to your website.
Thread could of used a little more effort but best of luck regardless!
