We explained all of the details of why we chose the group of testers that we did (it's in the post that I linked above, if you take a look). We're an RSPS with limited resources, so we don't have a "dedicated testing team" as you suggest, and therefore work with the resources we have available to us. At the beginning, there are more bugs, and we need to find ways to control the flow of bug reports so that they can be managed, and as those get fixed we can open it up to more people since there are less bugs (which are harder to find). It makes sense that we should open the testing up to players who've support the server most first (which includes higher ranking staff members, since they do an amazing service to the game), since we wouldn't be here without them, and so we want to show appreciate for that. I don't think we've been keeping anything hidden from players at all, and we've been completely transparent in regards to how we've gone about testing.
I understand that not everyone may agree with the way we've gone about opening up testing, but I will say that so far it has worked really well this way (from a development standpoint), and has allowed us to make really good progress.![]()
