Spending 2-3 hours of my day on IntelliJ telling me I have errors in my KotlinScripts and Gradle compiling perfectly fine is the best use of my day.

Let us not forget IntelliJ taking an hour at a time on indexing! And those Gradle builds, yummy...

IMO maven feels solid af, it feels like there's not a lot of room for bullshit. Even though i've used gradle for years now. Still prefer maven.

Gradle feels flimsy but it always works, imo.

no, you just treat programming like lego so you won't stumble upon anything more complex than hitting that run.bat in your root folder.

jetbrains has gone blind by all the money that everyone threw at them simply because of Eclipse's and Netbeans' failures. think i'm wrong? check when the CEO/CTO stepped down, follow the history, look at the timing on things like Android Studio, the official Kotlin embracement by Google, and then the whole fucking downhill ride where every time i open their shitty IDE i get errors i couldn't even come up with if i was on a double dose of ambien.

the issue tracker is fucking FILLED with performance bugs, crashes, integration errors, inconsistencies, and drop-dead critical performance bugs that have been open issues for 10+ years. the only thing this company focuses on is portfolio value and not customer satisfaction. you bet Maxim has a nice lane of roaring engines.

i've used this goddamn IDE since, what, version 10 when i pirated a license key because i couldn't pay for it, and Kotlin since that shit was no more than a syntax layer on java. both of these fucking tools have gone to shit because jetbrains is now no more than a cash generator and about anything i want to do with their products leads me to want to noose myself. zero fucking pride in anything they do. zero.

Why did this become a personal attack? Lol.

Since I started using kotlin as my primary language, both for university and rsps, the issues I've had using it most times ended up being a fault of my own. What are you suggesting is a better alternative to kt?

it's person because your experience is personal, so how can i make it non-personal? you speak of your experience and i discredit it because you don't seem to have used kotlin at all, other than calling it "mad juicy".

i am forced to use kotlin and the jvm ecosystem in our existing projects because rewriting is a terrible business decision, but our new ventures (incl those on xbox and switch) are c++ and Go

It's a bit odd for you to come back to the community and assume nobody's been doing any work. You're discrediting my work for ???????

for your ego battle against scu, 15 pages long

also, i don't "come back" - i'd rather not sink any more years into building something volatile while i built something non-volatile already. my energy is better spent elsewhere. last time i checked this community is incredibly unwelcoming to contributors and vibes on academic masturbation.

a prime example is Sir Tom's code - his username formatter takes 0.1ms. is the method pretty? kinda. but 0.1ms per format dude, what the fuck. it's so bad we use this in our game engine as measurements: 1 STC (Sir Tom cycle) equals 0.1ms
