I've really been thinking of making a tool that will help convert from one base to another. Looking back all the way to when I can remember, there have always been differences in things such as framework and how the methods are named and or even handled. I have recently noticed that there are many bases that are very similar, and some that are a whole different zoo. I want to ask the wisest of the community, and everyone in general, Would this help the community? Would it hinder the community? No matter how you feel, please explain why, show examples if possible. Lets allow this to be a very productive thread!
Definetly will help im looking for it
Honestly, I like the way you're thinking about a project. But my opinion is that there should only be one base with the correct programming techniques. Maybe you can create a tool which can convert what people call PI code, to some better code? Just simply said you know. That would be a better project and you're also converting one code to another
Also, I really don't understand the negative comments. While he's asking for constructive information, everyone in this thread is bashing on him. Think before posting on threads like this guys
Yeah, that's what I was meaning, Like Vencillo, Elvrag, PI, Delta, Ruse, (many others out there I'm sure, these are just the ones I'm experimenting with at the time), have it be able to take snippets of code, and switch it to another. Of course there will always have to be manual inputs here and there, but it is definitely possible to get it to switch a rather large amount of the code.
Also, were there a few rude comments made that I didn't get to see? Sad day, I love laughing at that shit. XP
EDIT: I have always been a fan of PI, started long time ago, and It began on PI. I always loved the content that DELTA had though, it always seemed more people used delta at that time. So, I began my first project. Taking ZombieScape (or something similar, I still have it on a flash drive around here (extra side note, I have a rather large library of released works)), and adding the survival, zombie spawning around the world, the guns, health kits all for minigame on my clean PI. I was surprised at how different they were, but yet everything was all the same. By the time I was done, I had a minigame based off a whole source, and it was rather simple. The time it took to figure out the differences was the hardest part. Building a machine that would have that knowledge all ready to go, would make it a snap. I have began the initial workings. I want to take my Agorism skill and switch it for pi. once I have that done, the tools inner workings should work for the most part. Since agorism is my most advanced solely wrote skill, I figured it would be a good start.
Don't waste your time, there'll still be plenty of help me threads to come.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, made my damn day dude!
Although this is true, I'm not worried about the ones that spend all day asking for help. I want to write a tool to help the ones that actually help themselves. There's a handful of people on this forum that I would give it to, but charge everyone else. Simply, for the fact that I know they don't try and learn anything. Most of them want people to do it for them. I think a tool to help true developers would be a good resource for the community.
Isn't this pretty much just like a plugin system?
while i do agree it would be fantastic to have one rsps base that has good code but using a tool to convert would almost be pointless, at that point i feel like there should just be a standarized base. if a tool for this was made it would have to change a lot of the framework in bases that don't have a good framework, like i said at that point it owuld be better to just have a standarized base for all users to go off of (which is essentially what apollo aims to do).
