If you were asked to name your favorite RSPS, both in the past and currently, how would you determine such?

What are some characteristics that you guys think makes up a good server, and why?

I'll give an example myself, to help start things off:

I consider a server good if it has active members and staff in-game and on the forums, custom content (things such as custom quests unique to the server, custom point systems, even custom items are appealing - sometimes) and functional items, meaning the majority of items are operable. Little details make the big difference for me and combined with a good community; I'd easily join a server that would have a small community but interactive one.

Interested to hear what you guys have to say about it.

Functionality is always great, but I've played poorly put together servers that were still fun because they had something unique, or the community.
Some people are a little more picky, and will only play 'vanilla' styled servers, ones that try to maintain the osrs aspect completely or whatever revision.
Some people don't like custom servers, some people love them, it's hard to say.

Some people prefer PK, some people like myself don't PK, I mean, I wouldn't mind hosting a PK server..
But I've never been good at PVP in really any games, hahaha.

Some people also like myself, prefer Economy servers with full functioning skills & bosses, etc.
OSRS data is pretty popular rn too, it's been awhile since I played any rsps myself, but I'm sure that's whats common rn.
Raids, the new map areas, items, pets, etc.

With that being said, I think suggestions are helpful, but don't let people influence your decision too much.
Even servers that are utter garbage manage to get some players, as-long as you're happy with what you make, right?

    Spoiler for Revy is perfect:

I agree with most of your points - I look for similar characteristics in servers when looking to join one. I think the largest server I played had around 100 members on at any given time, and I preferred that to say 200-300 members being online.. it kind of created a smaller community of active members that knew one another, very fun to play.

I already have my server in development, I don't intend to use this thread to gauge what direction I should go, but thanks for the well-wishing, anyways!

That's a pretty vague description of what kind of characteristics you look for in a server? I assume you mean a custom server by unoriginal?

I only prefer emulation styled servers. Servers that pay attention to detail. Period.

Servers I hate: Hybrid servers (your everyday "loading" server), Downloaded and hosted (obviously im talking about the leechers here), Lying servers (servers that are badly advertised, dont know what their talking about, generic descriptions, overly used mottos, wrongfully telling communities their true revision, false claims, advertising useless content, advertising content that doesnt even work, advertising content that doesnt even work nonetheless)

Do you have a preference when it comes to revision? What kind of details do you like, the fact that all the doors and ladders are functional on a server or things like perfected combat or potion making?

I feel like most servers fall short of perfecting every aspect across the board - there are a few "elite" servers that have the time and manpower to develop a truly flawless RSPS, but for the majority of the time the RSPS lacks in some way... something that seems trivial and insignificant to the programmer or owner before the server was released.

Personally, I get really bugged when an item is obtainable in-game but does not operate the way it is supposed to. For instance, if I'm using an Amulet of Glory, I expect to be able to use all the teleports on the Glory when it's both equipped and in my inventory - things of that nature.

Having a straight up Eco server combined with awesome PvP structures wins a lot of hearts, def never want to download and host but show what type of work you did. Theres nothing wrong with Leeching, but credit the people and put work into it

Solid one-revision (not loading X crap) pure emulation servers. Don't really dig it when people add their customs and shit. RS has added plenty of content, there's no need for customs.
    I also like to PK.

What are you talking about? You ask what are characteristics of a good rsps and I answered that. You want me to write an essay about what makes an rsps good? The only spam in this topic right now is caused by your unnecessary response to my post.
