Sounds kind-of dumb from the get-go, but I was just thinking..
What if there was a GP tax on purchases from shops within a server?
Well, why would you do such a thing?
Keeping an open mind of the concept, I thought it might be somewhat cool if..
Maybe you have it 1 GP for every 10 spent? Would come out to a 100k tax on a 1m purchase.
Now, every GP taxed could go to numerous things. Maybe some sort of raffle system.
A raffle drawn daily or weekly or something, that is all coins from taxed players.
It's hard to say because, I'm not sure how players themselves would feel about this.
Another idea of how these 'taxes' could be used would be..
Maybe a weeks worth of tax would be added up per each player,
then at the end of the week, said player would receive the taxes back, or a percentage of it.
Of-course this idea would be solely implemented in NPC shops, and player to player trades would be left to the players.
Anyways, posted this for some feedback, think its a good idea, or bogus? Gimme your thoughts.
Edit; Apologies, read it wrong. Taxing purchases makes more sense than selling in my opinion.
Sounds like a cool idea, would be cool to have the raffle thing at the end and maybe it splits the pot between 3-5 random people who 'paid tax' in the past week or something lol
What is this useful for? Taxes for governments for example are used to pay off different bills and expenses.
If you wanna do it so when you buy item theres a certain amount taken that makes no sense since the money already goes to the shop which is also the server,
you could do it so the amount of money you get from the shop when sellin item is lower but that's nothing new and simply just for money sinking, additions would be just puttin extra money in-game
Exactly! I didn't really think about splitting it, but that would probably be even better.
You make a valid point, but exactly that, it would pretty much be a money sink, I guess.
Maybe for example 1B gold was taxed over the week, could do a percentage of that, maybe 500m raffle? *Just an example
It could also be the same concept as a tax refund, giving the players back a percentage of their taxes back
Thanks everyone thus far for the feedback, hoping to still get some more opinions/thoughts, negative and positive!
or you can drop making your economy op, and spend less time thinking of dumb ideas to "restore" it .
Why would I play a server that taxes me
