Do you even know what a PAGE is? It's a block of memory stored on you harddrive, that acts like RAM to the operating system.

Yes. It is SLOW. Do you understand? Its as fast as writing out the client.java on a text file and having to load whatever you want to use each time you use it.

But you wouldn't know anything about stability seeing as you can't get enough players for any of that to matter to begin with.
Owned lul. But you cant talk yourself.

It's how long it takes to do a process and if your an idiot and make it repeat those tasks again and again when their not needed then unlucky mate your going to have a lagy server. just be aware of what your doing and debug all your things if your not to see how often their being called.

    The wor has begun.

all the configuration stuff from somewhere else.

I personally think their servers have 2gb ram. Gameservers don't have to be super
machines if the code is proper.

    ON TOPIC:

The client size won't hurt the ram usage that hard. The thing that hurts servers
here tremendously are the those huge buffers.
You have no clue what you're on about. And yes, game servers for a large, professional company have to be "super machines" as you put it. 2-4gb isn't even that much ram for a gameserver. And I am pretty sure they don't run two worlds on one box.

    Ineffective and slow alternative.

Players lag because of crappy code logic...

I'm actually convinced that their servers would run in 2-4 gb of RAM, and who knows if they use virtualization?

    rs2hd, atm uses around 300K/player.

    300 kilobytes * 2000 = 585.9375 megabytes

4gb would be more than enough on a well written server.

I have not seen your system, so i can't be sure, but is more memory used per player creation?
So like after 1000 players are online the memory used per player is 500?
    Don't worry, Be happy.

You people are forgetting how big and how many variables a player file for runescape must have.. Just like their 250+ quest status's alone would be huge. Not to think of the minigames, e.c.t.
