    Next create a Data file, name it: "version.dat".
    Inside of it put whatever version your client is, ie:
    This bit can be done with dataoutputstream/bufferedwriter.

    at step 5, does that mean .zip everything but .java and leave the .class?

    I'm confused on step 5. When you say to zip them, do you mean like this?

    Code:
    Class1.zip
    Class2.zip
    Class3.zip
    Or like:

    Class_files.zip

    Intresting, this could potencially update the cache aswell if you do the following things:

    Change the autodownloader link, change the cache name ect?

    yea could just edit the code to make it download updated cache from another folder, what i done with the old client version checker
